I like him but at the end of the day when you get paid millions to play sport as a career then you have to cop the crap when you stuff up. His own fault and any penalties he gets he will deserve.

What does political correctness have to do with anything?

He shouldn't be banned for more than one Test or whatever the penalty is, but don't see why anyone would want him to continue as Captain. Middling in the role at best even without the controversy.

For all his strength as a batsman, sulky Steve has been a fairly weak Captain. He gets sucked into drama and his responses are juvenile, churlish, outrageous. It sets the tone for the team. If CA stand by salty Smith, I guess we could say they'd be...papering over the cracks.

Think that's about right, but he has to earn his place back, doesn't just automatically come back into the team.

Would you withdraw his NOC so he can't play in the IPL? You suspect they'd like to, but that may lead to a restraint of trade case against CA and I can't imagine they'd want that.

If he had any balls should resign as captain. I have a young son who's admired Smith as a player, son will probably ask me to go to bunnings to get some sand paper thinking it's ok because Smiths been doing it.

Throwing the baby out with the bathwater is not the correct analogy. That's suggesting that Smith (the baby) is not involved in the problem (the bathwater ) when he clearly is the problem.
OP probably needs to look up the definition of PC also as this has nothing to do with Political Correctness. Our cricket captain has cheated and encouraged cheating. It's not 'bending the rules' or 'pushing the limits', its cheating. He needs to go and be out of cricket gor a while, same for anybody else with knowledge of this in the changeroom.
