It's nice to hear Cogs, Cuz and Cotch not far away. But to mention Raines in the same sentence is something I don't like to hear. Our defence is better without Raines. Don't want indecisive players with dodgy skills and lack of footy brain or composure in our defence. He is the perfect player to trade to the Gold Coast imo. We'll get a good pick out of this

Im prepared to give Raines another year to be honest.

He had a good 2006, a below average 2007 and he didnt play most of 2008 because of injury complications.

We know he goes in and gets the hardball, hes a better kick than Jake King, and hes a better player than McMahon. We need a small run and carry defender, and Raines is probably the best available at this time. :thumbsu:

I reckon Polo, Newman and Tambling are much more effective down back.

Raines looks harder and more determined this year from what lttle we've seen of him, but his most glaring problems are still there. He continues to play on at all costs even when it's not advantageous, he continues to run his full measure and then off a dinky little handball to a stationary player next to him who is immediately tackled and his kicks continue to have way too much air-time. Fix these things and he'd be a genuine gun but it might require a brain transplant.

Raines is not as bad as u think so get over it. I would rather Raines in the side any day of the week in place of your lover cleve. Enough of talking Raines down he is and will be a good player for us

Interesting to note how much better our centre bounce structure would be with Coughlan, Cotchin and Foley in there (interchanging with Tuck). Fair bit of grunt in there.

That leaves Deledio and Cousins to run around the midfield and forward line.

At least it's something to look forward to....

our midfield is just about set. and we still have collins and thomson running around at coburg so we have a bit of depth. but we need a KPF to stand up whether he is in the team now or in coburg, we really need one to stand up.

But Raines can also play Midfield but his prefered possition is back. We should stay with Raines and play him off half back
