Apologies if I have missed out some options. If you like Redden over Giles for R2, it doesnt really matter as everyone will have both so it really isnt a great PoD.

If you are going Redden + Giles on field then my apologies. I forgot about that key option and full respect to you as you would be having balls of steel!!

Crap, realized I also missed the Prem + midpricer ruck option. Damnation.

Oh well, it must be time to invoke my number 1 defence on these things.."do you people really exist out there, or have you been created solely out of my need to talk about SC". Hmm, yes, i think i have it right!

Why is no one keen on Sandilands? Am i missing something? Cheaper than Cox and Mummy, without a gun backup ruck (Cox/Nat, Kruz/Hamp/Warn, Goldy/BigMac).

Surely turf toe isn't the reason?

Mummy, Giles, Redden, Stephensen.

Usually I'm a lock and load on the rucks but this year the rookie backs/fwds don't offer much. I'd prefer the 5th premium forward to the second ruck given how expensive Cox starts. One of those 3 should outscore the likes of Saad and Pfeiffer in the forwards. Giles will get plenty of chances to score points at centre bounces :)

**** everyone jumping on Mummy. I've been on him since Sandi went down last year!

I had Mummy, Hmac now Mummy, Giles.

May revise considering my team is looking more cookie cutter by the day.

I have the same except Orrensen ( I have Cordy) whats your thoughts on Orra and his game time??

Orren should get plent of game time IMO not sold on west as a #1 ruck man although not confident on orren pulling big numbers therefore is a good r4 for cover n hopefully $$$$$

There's probably 100 or so players to choose your 30 from. Everyone's team will be similiar. You can do the odd thing like Impromptu leaving out Goddard but the majority of the popular picks will be good picks. If you can identify the ones to leave alone you've got a good head start but you can't pull players out of your arse and expect them all to hit.

Don't mess with rucks. 2 premiums locked and loaded. A plethora of upgrade options in other positions and not so many in ruck means when it's upgrade time you are limited in your options and may be left with a sub par 2nd ruck.

Also consider if your rookie ruck goes down. You can't really trade him out for another playing rookie like you can in other positions and you'll be left with 40s and 50s from your backup rucks if they play at all.

I think a lot of people (including me) will take the risk this year now that Redden has come on. Giles on the field, Redden as backup, and then Stephensen if everything goes wrong.

cox and giles for me. it's concerning how unpopular that option is, worth switching to mummy?

Sorry Im at a loss as to why this question hasn't even been acknowledged.... Is there something Im missing? is it the TOE? Is Sandi not an option as a starting prem ruck?

I think it should be a more popular option. Are people going Mumford because of the bye setup? He's good, but he always seems to miss a few games.

Perhaps his recent calf injury has put some people off. I don't think he's a certainty for round one.

Plus he has two good back-ups. Both Clarke and Griffin have shown enough to get game time, so Lyon might nurse him more this year to make sure he actually gets through a full year.

I'd love to have mummy, but the fact that he has always missed a few games combined with the fact that Longmire has Seaby, Goodes, LRT and White to rotate through you'd also think they'd be giving the big man a few rests? This is why I'm leaning much more toward Luey and Jacobs as they seem to be two of the only rucks who have solid JS each round.
Thoughts?

Agree with this, which is why i went with:

Mumford/Maric/Redden/Giles

Gives some backup if Mumford decides to throw people around again :D

Stupid comment IMO. He had them all last year as well, no different to this year.

Goodes will never play as a ruck man. LRT is cemented in the back line. Seaby is s*** and White may get a little bit of time in the ruck, but I'll still happily take Mumford.

Longmire has said that he will be resting more players this year following the style of Geelong last year. Goodes won a brownlow playing ruck, not saying he will be first ruck any game this year, but the fact that Mummy could be rested a match with Goodes, LRT and White sharing the duties between them is very feasible, albeit a tad too complicated for some simpler minds to understand

I don't think Goodes will ever play ruck again, but I do think Mumford will be rested at times. Sydney would be stupid not to given his history of troubles with the knee, so if their ladder position allows you'd expect them to rest him a few times when they play bottom 8 clubs and let Seaby/Pyke etc have a turn. Same thing with Freo, given Sandi's injury troubles and the fact they have capable backups in Clarke and Griffin they'd be stupid to play him for 22 games this year. For this reason I'm leaning towards McEvoy (probably along with Cox, geez he's expensive but he keeps pumping the scores out) as St Kilda have very little depth in that position (Kosi, and Stanley isn't much) so I can't see how they can afford to rest him much if at all. With the sub rule and clubs who have ruck depth looking at how to get time into all their rucks, I think that's a big issue for supercoachers this year.
