I've heard that story:
At the 1975 GF between Hawthorn and North Melbourne each club had an allocation of tickets to sell. In those days the only way this could be done was to give the wads of tickets to the clubs for them to sell and hand over to the buyers. Unfortunately, Hawthorn had a wad of tickets fall down behind a huge filing cabinet or safe at Glenferrie Oval. The filing cabinet/safe was too big to move so the tickets remained unsold and on the day there was a patch of empty seats in the outer wing position.

Should have had their licence removed from the league at that point.

Does highlight that in 1975 football was not even semi-professional then.
By mid 80's it certainly was everything see and hear about mid 70's shows it was just a big sporting league but overall not run anything like the business like models that use today.

What is the record for lowest aggregate margin in 3 consecutive games for a team:

a) where at least 1 game was a draw?
b) where no games were drawn? (ie. has a team ever had 3 consecutive 1 point games)

a) 2 points
Carlton 1911 R1-3 D-D-L2
Carlton 1952 R14-16 D-L1-L1

b) 4 points
Western Bulldogs 1950 R18 to 1951 R1&2 L2-W1-W1
Carlton 2020 as above

Going by names on AFL Tables, what's the longest player name chain you can come up with?
The best I've managed to come up with is a 22-chain: Brandon Jack George Anthony Darcy Cameron Bruce Andrew Graham Arthur Luke Donald Don Scott Russell Campbell Heath James Stewart Duncan Lindsay Ellis Hicks

Brandon Jack (Sydney: 2013-2015, 2017)
Jack George (Collingwood: 1930-1931, St. Kilda: 1931-1935, South Melbourne: 1936)
George Anthony (Footscray: 1926-1927)
Anthony Darcy (Geelong: 1992, Footscray: 1993-1994, St. Kilda: 1996)
Darcy Cameron (Sydney: 2018, Collingwood: 2020-present)
Cameron Bruce (Melbourne: 2000-2010, Hawthorn: 2011-2012)
Bruce Andrew (Collingwood: 1928-1932, 1934)
Andrew Graham (Carlton: 1983)
Graham Arthur (Hawthorn: 1955-1968)
Arthur Luke (Geelong: 1948)
Luke Donald (St. Kilda: 1990)
Donald Don (Richmond: 1917-1928)
Don Scott (Hawthorn: 1967-1981)
Scott Russell (Collingwood: 1990-1998, Sydney: 1999)
Russell Campbell (South Melbourne: 1978, 1980)
Campbell Heath (Sydney: 2010, Port Adelaide: 2013)
Heath James (Sydney: 1999, 2001, 2003-2004)
James Stewart (GWS: 2013-2016, Essendon: 2017-2018)
Stewart Duncan (Fitzroy: 1960-1964)
Duncan Lindsay (North Melbourne: 1925-1926)
Lindsay Ellis (Footscray: 1954)
Ellis Hicks (South Melbourne: 1956)

And what's the most you can do with duplicates, without repeating a player (using identical names for different players counts, but don't try pulling off the infinite Aliir Aliir chain)

How many games in the AFL era (apart from first games against new sides) have both sides kicked their lowest ever score against each other? (per Frem v Geel last night). Have there been a few this year?

Richmond have been the best side past 3 years 2017-19 - and have got the 2 premierships to show for it

What i want to know - is from round 1 2017 up until and including todays game - whats their win/loss record away from the MCG - so thats not just interstate games - can be Victorian games but not played at MCG

Thus total games played away from MCG for that period - - their total wins and total losses

MCG 42-6-1 (87%)
non-MCG 18-15-0 (55%)

I randomly found this game https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1993/021619930516.html

in which Roger Merrett and Michael Murphy both kicked 8 goals. Has there ever been a game where two blokes on the same team kicked nine or more?

(trivia night joke: who kicked eight goals in the 1993 game between Brisbane and Sydney? Correct answers are Murphy and Merrett. I would also accept Sydney)

This is the only one.

Prior to David Mundy, who was the last VFL/AFL player to have scores in their teens as their 2 lowest scores in their career?

John Rantall who finished in 1980, a legacy of his South Melbourne days. 18 of the 19 players before Rantall also accumulated the pair of games at South. The odd one out was Ron Barassi (one at Melbourne, one at Carlton). Then a big gap back to Hawthorn's Ted Pool who finished in 1938.

Freo were scoreless in the first qtr and went on to win. When was the last time it happened (to any team)? I assume it would have been very common in early VFL games.
It's the first time since Rd. 12 2004: https://afltables.com/afl/seas/2004.html#12

Ironically it was Fremantle then as well! The time before that was:

This was the 309th scoreless first quarter - the 4th this year. 56 times the scoreless (at 1/4 time) team has won.

With Tristan Xerri having debuted for North Melbourne this season, and with Jarman Impey having played his first game this season with Hawthorn on Friday, we have now had a player whose surname begins with each letter of the alphabet play a game this season, except for the letter U. As far as I can see there are no players in any squads whose surname begins with U, but I by no means perused every squad with a fine tooth comb. Are there any U names out there for 2020?
