Looks like it, with games over the years moving back bit by bit closer to 2:00.

Anyone know what the earliest timeslots have been over the years? Disregarding recent years, did many games start before 1pm?

One of the examples:

1920: On the occasion of the visit of HRH The Princes Of Wales, two morning matches starting at 10.45am were played on Wednesday, May 26: Richmond v Collingwood at Punt Road Oval and Fitzroy played Geelong at the Brunswick Street Oval.

The last 7 games that North have been involved in that have finished with single-figure margins have all be losses. What are the longest winning and losing streaks in matches decided by less than 10 points? How about less than a goal?

Under 10 points:
10W - Collingwood R15 1980 - PF 1981
10W - Essendon R1 1950 - PF 1951
11L - Essendon R14 1935 - R9 1938
11L - North Melbourne R18 1933 - R14 1935

Carlton had a sequence of 12 games undefeated (R1 1914 - R16 1915) including three draws.

Under 6 points:
8W - Sydney R4 1918 - R15 1919
8W - Fitzroy R5 1952 - R13 1953
10L - North Melbourne R18 1933 - R1 1937

Working hours made earlier starts difficult for both players and spectators to get to matches earlier. Five day, 40 hour working weeks didn't arrive until after WW II.

Interesting as i have always assumed that games had always started at 2pm. Its quite funny to think about the fuss about the Geelong Melbourne game last year and yet games used to finish another 45 minutes later
 
do any of you guys keep quarter by quarter goal stats??

6 to daniel merrett would be the first in a long time....??

Drew Petrie had a six-goal first quarter a few years back.

WCE supporters would also want to forget Scott Lucas' seven-goal last quarter against us in 2007.

Port v Richmond, R11 1999 was the last one. A wet and windy night.

Prior to that it was 1981. 66 cases in all, with only six since WW2.

On a very trivial note, in how many games have both teams finished with the same tally of goals and behinds, as with Hawthorn and Fremantle in this recent round (17.17 vs 9.9)?
