Looks like it, with games over the years moving back bit by bit closer to 2:00.

Anyone know what the earliest timeslots have been over the years? Disregarding recent years, did many games start before 1pm?

One of the examples:

1920: On the occasion of the visit of HRH The Princes Of Wales, two morning matches starting at 10.45am were played on Wednesday, May 26: Richmond v Collingwood at Punt Road Oval and Fitzroy played Geelong at the Brunswick Street Oval.

The last 7 games that North have been involved in that have finished with single-figure margins have all be losses. What are the longest winning and losing streaks in matches decided by less than 10 points? How about less than a goal?

Under 10 points:
10W - Collingwood R15 1980 - PF 1981
10W - Essendon R1 1950 - PF 1951
11L - Essendon R14 1935 - R9 1938
11L - North Melbourne R18 1933 - R14 1935

Carlton had a sequence of 12 games undefeated (R1 1914 - R16 1915) including three draws.

Under 6 points:
8W - Sydney R4 1918 - R15 1919
8W - Fitzroy R5 1952 - R13 1953
10L - North Melbourne R18 1933 - R1 1937

Were games shorter back then? If you start at 3pm it would be dark before the game is finished

Semi-dark and sometimes dark.

Working hours made earlier starts difficult for both players and spectators to get to matches earlier. Five day, 40 hour working weeks didn't arrive until after WW II.

Interesting as i have always assumed that games had always started at 2pm. Its quite funny to think about the fuss about the Geelong Melbourne game last year and yet games used to finish another 45 minutes later

do any of you guys keep quarter by quarter goal stats??

6 to daniel merrett would be the first in a long time....??

also if on record has there ever been a 20 disposal quarter??

Drew Petrie had a six-goal first quarter a few years back.

WCE supporters would also want to forget Scott Lucas' seven-goal last quarter against us in 2007.

Just numbers please. a) includes 1897, and b) includes 1994

1. How many 9-1 teams has there been:
a. since 1897?
b. since 1994?

2. How many 9-1 teams have not finished top 4 since 1994?

3. How many 9-1 teams have won the "minor" premiership?
a. since 1897?
b. since 1994?

So with GC v WB having no multiple goal scorers last night, how long has it been since that happened?

I did some manual data mining a while ago for my most goals betting stuff and I don't think there was one since 2003 at least

Port v Richmond, R11 1999 was the last one. A wet and windy night.

Prior to that it was 1981. 66 cases in all, with only six since WW2.

2a) 0 (all top three)
3a) 32, b) 3

Barry Mitchell did pick up the 3 votes that game although he was usually overlooked by the umpires.

221 games: 31 BM votes / 5332 possessions = 0.0058 votes per possession

Many players worse than that?

On a very trivial note, in how many games have both teams finished with the same tally of goals and behinds, as with Hawthorn and Fremantle in this recent round (17.17 vs 9.9)?

Sam Fisher: 6 votes / 3481 possessions = 0.0017 votes per possession

Ryan Hargrave: 1 vote / 3246 possessions = 0.00031 votes per possession

Valid assuming they don't get any votes in matches played so far this year.

Just manually searching:

Michael Osbourne: 1 / 2193 = 0.00045*
Matthew Whelan: 1 / 2142 = 0.00046
Mick Malthouse: 1 / 1994 = 0.00050
Brian Cordy: 1 / 1941 = 0.00051
Scott Stevens: 1 / 1889 = 0.00052
Dale Morris: 1 / 1828 = 0.00054
Brent Staker: 1 / 1762 = 0.00056
Michael Gayfer: 1 / 1700 = 0.00058
Stephen Wright: 18 / 4526 = 0.0039
Garry Foulds: 22 / 5382 = 0.0041
Bernhard Toohey: 16 / 3864 = 0.0041
Darren Milburn: 26 / 5523 = 0.0047
John Blakey: 34 / 5567 = 0.0061

So in 2012 a few records have been equalled or bettered at both the top and bottom end of the ladder, with a few more such records to come with Gold Coast and Melbourne. My question, to add to the list below, is for sides with 1 loss at most. Currently we have 3 teams on 7-1. Most x-0/1 teams for different values of x?
