If a player is getting ready to have a kick, and then the siren sounds, and he chooses to kick it straight to the umpire, or just boots it aimlessly into the air, and if he hasn't gone over the mark and thus played on, does that still count as a kick?
No, he has to be trying to do something constructive with it (i.e. score)

Sorry to intrude but does anyone know of a stats website that brings up game logs for a specific player against a certain team, for example Sam Mitchell vs StKilda. I know afl tables has averages against each team or ground, but you'd have to scroll through all his games to see each game log making it hard to compare.

Wasn't at the game in 1972 Geelong vs Collingwood that ended with the same score as today's one point result 17.10.112 to 17.9.111, but i'd venture to say that Geelong may have only been in front for less time in that game when comparing it to today's match or any other game Geelong has won at the last minute. Geelong today only at the very start and very end of the game did they have their noses in front on the scoreboard. Like a Better Loosen Up horse race victory was today for the Cats.

Last week's win by Melbourne over St. Kilda was the first time the Demons had beaten the Saints since 2006, with the 2016 Demons side ending a run of outs dating back 10 years against Hawthorn. The Demons still have not beaten the Kangaroos since 2006, however they did come close last year and with Melbourne on the improve and North seemingly on the slide, it may well happen this year.

Which other droughts dating back to the 2000s still exist? I know Carlton has not beaten Hawthorn since 2005, and Richmond have not beaten Geelong since upsetting the Cats in Geelong in 2006. The streak nearly broke last year when a lazy Geelong found itself 6 goals behind the Tigers at three quarter time, but the Tigers put up little resistance when the Cats awoke from their slumber and stepped aside meekly in the final term as Geelong snatched the four points. The Tigers and Lions have both struggled at times in recent years, but I don't recall Brisbane beating Richmond since 2009.

Are there any pre 2010 droughts I have overlooked?

The reigning Premiers need to look back to the penultimate round of 2009 to last find an occasion that they have beaten the Cats. As Ron the Bear had already confirmed after the GF, the Dogs are the only reigning Premier to have a losing sequence of 10 against a fellow side at the time of winning the Flag.

I think the Swans hold the record - they won a game where they were never in front at any time during the game.

They trailed all day - Barry hall took a mark on the siren. So the Swans did not hit the lead until AFTER the Final Siren.

Anyone remember that game?

With Port Adelaide well on top of Freo, we look like having 8 unbeaten sides after 2 rounds, I can't recall ever seeing more than 40% of teams being unbeaten after 2 rounds.

Has there ever been anything similar in competition for 12 or more teams.

7 in 1995 and 2013 was the previous mark. There has never been a perfect balance where half the competition is 2-0 and the other half 0-2.

Sounds like the Sydney-Brisbane game of R3 2005.

IIRC Brisbane finished that round 3rd last.

Streak Matrix

How to read: Positive numbers indicate a winning sequence, negative numbers are games without a win including draws. Start from left and read across, e.g. for West Coast, read across to the column for Gold Coast... +1 indicates West Coast won its last game against Gold Coast. For Gold Coast, read across to the column for West Coast... the figure of -8 indicates they have not beaten West Coast in their last 8 matches.

For combinations without a recent draw, the figures will be the exact inverse, e.g. +1/-1, +5,-5.

There's some highlights here, including of course the thrilling finale. In fact a free kick was paid to Hall, rather interesting decision as well.

Wondering if anyone knows who the last player to have at least 30 disposals and 6 goals in a game is? Pretty fantastic effort from Gray tonight.

Thanks in advance.

When was Geelong in front early in the game?

What's the highest scoring draws?

Highest I can think of is Essendon vs Carlton R2 1993 (132 all.)

Sidenote: That was Dustin Fletcher's AFL debut.

Score worm had Geelong up 7-6 i think, or maybe it was even at that stage. Just recall seeing it on the post-game and there was a touch of green at the start and very end of the worm, representing Geelong. Upon closer inspection, maybe it was only 6-6, not a lead early.
