AFL Draft Picks Broken Down by Pick Number - Draftguru

National Draft Pick #1 - Draftguru
Rookie Draft Pick #1 - Draftguru
Pre-Season Draft Pick #1 - Draftguru
Mid-Season Draft Pick #1 - Draftguru

Jack Martin was pick #1 in the Mini Draft held at the end of 2012 (I think 2 players were taken), and again #1 in the 2020 Pre-Season Draft (held at the end of 2019 - one of 2 players taken). So he probably counts as a two-time number 1 selection! I can't see anyone else who qualifies.

Slightly different. Jaegar OMeara was #1 pick 2 yrs in row. Gold Coast took him in 2011 mini draft but was unable to play 2012.
They would have taken him in 2011 National (the 2011 mini kind of like same thing) or 2012 National

1984

19yr old Paul Salmon was leading Coleman in his 2nd year. Had 63 goals from 13 games (4.8) at that rate he would have kicked 105.6 goal.
18yo Locket was on 54 goals when Salmons season ended.

"Best" is subjective, but I'll put these up for starters

Very good thats 101 to 200th game stats? Nice

All champions

Hows Grundy going? I think his 101 to 150 or whatever it is would be strong across few areas Hit Outs, Disp, Clear, Tackles

These are the leaders among current players at 150-199 games down to Grundy, with 2020 figures multiplied x 1.25

I like that you've chosen to do this – do you think it'll become 'canon' for all your statistical queries in the future, in the same way that Brownlow votes from the late 70s are now halved?

Probably. It just seems logical, otherwise you're not comparing apples with apples. Just need to keep in mind that the numbers are approximations.

Anyone who's prepared for fantasy footy by extrapolating numbers for players with limited game time in anticipation of them spending more time on the field will be aware that such extrapolation can be fraught, although in this case we're dealing with seasoned players and a maximum of 21 games (2020 season) out of a minimum of 50, so distortion should be minimal and the 2020 numbers are likely to be a more accurate reflection than the raw figures.

Jumper number vs draft position.

Jarryd Roughead was pick 2 in 2004, ended up in the number 2 jumper.

Will Day has number 12 but he was pick 13. Dusty wears 4 but he was pick 3. Coniglio wears 3 but was taken at 2.

Can anyone find another like Roughie?

edit: Alex Rance also fits the bill. Any current players?

^^ Shai Bolton #29 at Richmond. Technically Dylan Grimes #2 pre-season draft. And Jake Aarts #16 rookie draft.

Andrew McGrath with No. 01.

Is anybody able to help with an official crowd figure for the Collingwood vs Richmond preseason game from March 5 and also for the Adelaide vs Port preseason game from March 7?

What are the 5 highest aggregates for the combined ages of two opposing coaches in one game? For example, say one coach had been aged 65 on match day and the opposing coach was aged 64, this would aggregate 129.
And what are the 5 lowest aggregates for the combined ages of two opposing coaches in one game?

Jonathan Giles.

2014 = GWS.
2015 = Essendon.
2016 = West Coast.

Ben Hudson.

2011 = Footscray.
2012 = Brisbane.
2013 = Collingwood.

Dale Kickett.

1990 = Fitzroy.
1991 = West Coast.
1992 = St Kilda.

Barry Mitchell
1992 - Sydney Swans
1993 - Collingwood
1994 - Carlton

Terry Wallace
1986 - Hawthorn
1987 - Richmond
1988 - Footscray

Stuart Wigney
1991 - Footscray
1992 - Sydney Swans
1993 - Adelaide

Rod Owen
1990 - St Kilda
1991 - Melbourne
1992 - Brisbane Bears

Brenton Sanderson
1993 - Adelaide Crows
1994 - Collingwood
1995 - Geelong

Richard Osborne
1992 - Fitzroy
1993 - Sydney Swans
1994 - Footscray

So considering Wigney played for Richmond in 1995, can anyone top 4 in 5?

Across AFL and high level state football, John Hutton played at five different clubs in five seasons in the 1990s as follows:

1991 - Claremont Tigers (WAFL)
1992 - Brisbane Bears (AFL)
1993 - Sydney Swans (AFL)
1994 - Palm Beach Currumbin (QAFL)
1995 - Fremantle Dockers (AFL)

Despite quite few players representing both the Fitzroy Lions and the Brisbane Bears from 1987-1996, there are only two players who played for Fitzroy, the Brisbane Bears and the Brisbane Lions. These are Scott McIvor and Alistair Lynch.

In the NRL, I could find only one player who played for St George Dragons, Illawarra Steelers and the St George Illawarra Dragons joint venture, and this is Brad Mackay who played at St George in 1987-1994, Illawarra in 1996-1998 and for the St George Illawarra merged team in 1999, as well as a one year stint in Perth for the now defunct Western Reds in 1995.

Of other merged/joint venture teams around Australia (or if there are any other STGI Dragons who represented all three teams), do you know of any other players like McIvor, Lynch and Mackay?

The West Torrens Eagles and Woodville Warriors merged after the 1990 SANFL season to form the Woodville-West Torrens Eagles; are there any players who represented West Torrens, Woodville and the WWT Eagles?

The Balmain Tigers and Western Suburbs Magpies formed a joint venture the Wests Tigers in the NRL after the 1999 season; are there any players who represented Balmain, Wests Magpies and Wests Tigers in First Grade?

The Wests Tigers were not the only new joint venture NRL team to debut in 2000; there was also the Northern Eagles, a joint venture between the Manly Sea Eagles, the North Sydney Bears and Central Coast Rugby League. It was a disaster from day one and fell apart after two years, the license reverting to Manly alone with the Bears (with no premierships since 1921 and 1922) now out of the NRL and no permanent presence on the Central Coast. But during the Northern Eagles short tenure in the early 2000s, were there any players that represented Manly, Norths and the Northern Eagles?
