What has happened to him? I really rate his potential (more as a KP defender) but he seems to have really stalled this year.

Is he injured? If not, I'd like to see him playing instead of Rivers or Joel Mac (esp v St Kilda with Kosi, Stanley and Reiwoldt, if he plays) - he's shown form as a good tall defender, with impressive agility, and would also be a much better back-up ruckman to Jamar than Miller or Dunn.

Why would we delist him, he has put in a few good games. His best has been better than the best from Watts so far!
Is he injured as he is not listed as such.
He was in Casey seconds a few of weeks back and sincethen he is not mentioned as injured and does not appear on any list at Casey.
What is the situation? Does any one know?

Project key defender or delist.
This probably sums him up atm which tbh is a pretty precarious position for a player who turns 24 this yr to be in. Warnock had only played 4 games by the time he was 24 but at least you knew that his optimal role was as a defender. With Martin he has been tried all over the place without any purpose. I question the decision making process on this occasion - not so much the fact we got him but more the reason why we got him. He needed to be given a specific MO ala Brogan from Port but he has been stuffed around.

We still have more obvious candidates to delist before him which may keep him going for the short term.

I thought he showed a heap of promise as a defender, but I think our wealth of decent tall defenders forced the footy department to try him in other roles, with little success.

If fit, I'd rather him in the side than Rivers - and I'm not a Rivers basher.

He is a player who has absolutely no positional awareness (almost on the same level as Naitanui in this regard), and as such, he can only play well as a defender where he is simply allowed to follow around an opponent and attempt to curb his influence.

Place him anywhere else on the ground, particularly in areas where he has to find space or make the play on his own, and he is utterly useless. I also tend to think he's a bit soft for a big man, and doesn't use his frame to impose himself on the contest as much as he should.

Whilst he has some good attributes, particularly in relation to his athleticism, I just don't think he's ever going to cut it.

I'm with BS on this one in that I think it's time to show him the door.

If you are referring to his lack of core strength then I agree. Also agree that he doesn't have any footy smarts what so ever.

Sorry I wasnt clear.

I meant I dont think hes got a future as a ruckman or a forward - he doesnt seem to have the smarts required for those positions.

But if we put him through the system as a key defender for tall forwards or resting ruckman he is a chance to come good.

I wouldnt delist him yet.

Delisting one of our better developing bigs would be pretty stupid decison.

Martin is a better proposition than Newton, Miller and Spencer playing in the ruck ...

Martin has the height, size and better skills. Plus he has already shown he can help out Jamar. Do you really want to see sylvia playing in the ruck again?? I dont !:)

There were rumours of an injury and possibly surgery. I'd love to know what's going on because by my record he has only played VFL twice since he was omitted/out injured from the senior side.

His game against Brisbane was pretty handy earlier in the year. It's been a real shame that neither he nor Spencer haven't pushed for a second ruck spot and it has fallen to Miller almost without challenge. If Stef keeps missing his chances he might run out if Fitzpatrick and Gawn start challenging ahead of schedule.

If he can prove his worth as a reasonable tall forward then he may get picked as a forward/ruckman, given we seem to want to play Russian for 80% in the ruck and some spud the other 20%.

And to make things worse, Spencer is playing tomorrow!

Only rumours of an injury? Obviously listing a player on the injury list is some sort of expert subterfuge.
