Well done for overreacting over a few small blunders.
Sure, I would love to see if a few players can dominate next week, but everyone makes mistakes.

Stenglein and Hansen did great today, Butler I didn't see much of. Our players won't play perfect games all the time and will make errors of judgement but they did great.
They should hold their heads up high after that game, re-assess themselves and go into the next game as it is a new game.

Thought the umps were a little hard on us today - a few holding the ball decisions that the Hawks got away with irked me a little.

We were brave, Hawthorn are well below their best at the moment though IMO.

Stand by my original post, Stinger was shit this week. Butler was pretty average. Hansen is a ghost, if Kennedy isn't better than that he might as well retire...

Stenglein has had his best day.

Such a so-so player. Not attacking, and not a defensive player.

He presented and took marks. Just didnt know what to do with it. This can be taught. Thought his tackling in close was good as well.

However if there is a player tearing it up in the WAFL similar to him then he will be in trouble.

lol...he didnt play his best but just because fletcher is out doesnt mean we have to scape goat stinga.

staker...hansen anyone?

Hansen gave us nothing. Sure it wasn't great conditions for tall forwards but he gives you nothing. No defensive pressure, can't take a mark. Bring in Kennedy

Cockie or Swift getting a crack soon? Shouldn't have persisted with Hansen and just given the Fridge a game and for the rest of the season.

He wasn't the worst but he arguably (Other than the umpires) cost us the most at the most important time in the game. When we had momentum and the chance the get ahead/further ahead, he butchered it twice in the quarter, let alone the buthering job he did in the first (or second quarter)

One would have been the easiest goal of the game for either side.

Stenglein has got to be dropped for next week. For a leader at the club, decision-making was awful, really bad.

I really though Staker would try harder, or at least try to look like he's trying harder, knowing that he's not a walk up starter each week.

Hansen. Ummmm. Something has to happen here, but I don't know what......yet.

Where the FICK is Kennedy?

I was about to post this. Hawks' confidence was low and we were looking to capitalise with some great link work through the middle. Both critical turnovers happened at the end of important passages of play.

Stinger was the weak link today.

Stinger is no longer the player he was in the 05 / 06 seasons where he not only beat his player one on one but also drifted forward to kick some goals.

He seems to be a yard or two slower these last 18 months and his decision making also is not what it once was. :(

Sadly I think his best football is behind him and he is starting that slippery slide of in and out of the side.

Will be interesting as I think his contract finishes this year.

Not saying he will be cut... but I would expect he will be on a considerably smaller pay packet next year.

I concur. For such an experienced player, his decision-making was very poor. He really let his teammates down.

This is his last year and will not be in the best 22 in the second half of the season.

Been a great servant of the club but the game has passed him by.

Hopefully he won't hold back some of the kids when they are ready to play.

Yes, I agree, BRING BACK FLETCH ;)

On Stinga, yes, a pretty poor game. The thing that keeps him in is that he is still a pretty good defender. Until Scott Selwood and Paddy McGinity start hitting some really good form and not get their jaw broken. I think you will find that Stinga will be in the 222 more often than not.

My prediction is that Stinga will be in the best 22 more often that not this year and next year will be push out of the best 22 by 2010. Because, he still has another year to go on his contract.

We've seen a few of youngsters in other teams come in and play the negating role very well over the past year.. Kieran Jack, Liam Picken, Clint Jones etc.

Really all they have to do is follow their opponent and then tackle them when they get the ball.

I think Scooter, McGinnity, J-Mac, Davis and Schofield (provided they have the aerobic capacity) could all come in and do a job at least as good as what Stenglein is providing right now. McGinnity in particular I view as our future number 1 stopper and would like to see him given some game time.

Schofield will play either as a defensive forward or run with player.

When Stinger is dropped there is a good chance Swift will eventually slot into the midfield.

Personally I don't expect this will happen for a little while and secondly there are other players also fighting for midfield spots which may get a game ahead of Swift this season (Masten, Cockie).

Worsfold mentioned in last weeks after match press conference, Masten pushing forward to also play a crumbing roll. This still dosn't change the number of players on the park though.
