With talks on-going between Sydney & Spider Everitt, would anyone be keen for AFC to pursue Stephen Doyle?? Can play in ruck & up forward, and may be keen to come back to SA if he moves down the pecking order at the Swans.

No - unless it's for Skipworth or Jericho max

Thinking about next year I am slowly coming to realization that we will need a 4th ruckman next year just in case of injuries but I cannot see Jonathon Griffin being ready for 2007.

If we pick up a young ruckman whom ever comes in would have to come on the cheap and be seen as the 4th option behind Hudson, Maric and Meesen (in no particular order).

Will have to wait until after the delisting have been made to see who is available.

I would rather throw Griffin to the wolves than go with some average ruckman that cannot make it at another club.

Whats wrong with having one of you KPP pinch hit in the ruck? This might be the reason why Wayne World is hearing that we are interested in Nick Smith. He is a KPP who can pinch hit in the ruck. At 196 or 197 cm he is big enough to pinch hit in there. Not sure I am sold on the idea of Smith.

I saw him play as a junior and he was a real talent. Could play CHB, CHF and ruck. Very strong hands but not overly mobile or agile and a didgy kick for goal. He might be someone that could fill the void if we can get him cheap.

Then there is also an option of playing Gibson there (if we keep him). He has played most of his junior footy in the ruck. With his crash and bang style and enormous leap he can pinch hit there if needed.

We can't go into next season with 6 ruckman on the list. We have 5 as it is (with Biglands) and you could argue that even that is one ruckman too many.

Do many teams use four ruckmen in a single season?

Nope.

I'd be kind of interested. If we decided we wanted to go after an experienced ruckman for next year these are the names i'd be happy with:
Doyle, Seaby, Minison and Hale

Can't see it happening though.

Agree completely - picking up another ruckman for 2007 will bite us when Rhett is fit in 2008.....just a waste of a spot on our list.

I like Seaby - but as a Key Forward....very versatile - will be a star...

....maybe Perrie and a 3rd round pick

Yeah I agree Stiffy.

The time is right to play Meesen & Maric, so why trade for someone who will block their progress.

We still have a greater need for KPP's.
