THIS is exactly what we need in our club

Sal copped one of the biggest hits i have ever seen. Saw it on the news again and geez it was a massive hit and then his head slammed into the turf...
it was one of the most courageous things i have seen in a long time.

now the few points i want to mention....

1) he got off the stretcher on the boundary and walked down the rooms...
2) he came back on in the last quarter and actually played pretty well.. did some good things including passing lace out to tredders 30 meters out
3) didnt want to go off when peter barnes told him to come off
4) ran out the game and played most of the last quarter

Tough and inspirational stuff from Sal...... from a disappointing day this was something to hang our hat on... if some of our other senior blokes put in the commitment that Sal did today then the result may have been different.....

Some of the guys who took the park today would have trouble looking at this guy in the eye. Same with C. Cornes for the better part of the year.

Whoever said that we'd huff and puff for about a quarter before reverting to our normal softness should put their crystal ball up on eBay. We'll probably hear the same things about playing "good, tough footy" during the week - we need actions, not words.

Salopek going off should have triggered a bit of pride in our performance, but we went the opposite direction. Not to mention the fact that we should be going out there to take the game to the opponent regardless of these motivators (Von, Salopek, 2 weeks of shit performances and so on).

Salopek, Gray and Westhoff were the only things worth watching today.

Agreed, but be fair, how about Jacob Surjan??? This little tough nut will be a gem, loved his game, one of the few who can really walk tall after his performance.

Great efforts from the debutants, gives us some hope

Also on the Salopek topic, on the radio before the game it was mentioned Salopek is expected to sign a 2 year contract extension next week.:thumbsu:

Gee fellas could be smug and bump a few threads in recent years suggesting softness from a certain somebody, but I'm glad you've all woken up to how good Sal is. Genuine star and will now be recognized across the league as something special.

We should take that contract off the table...

and replace it with a 3-year contract!

Sal is the type of player we want running around for us - and for a long time..
Not the squip in the #12 jumper...

A while back I made an avatar paying tribute to the great man that I obviously can't wear in this guise ("z0mg DT ur a pr0t suppr0ter!!!1111  ") but it's acts like that that cause my absolute admiration to build further.

When you consider the adversity he has had to overcome he has come such a long way since being drafted as a bottom-aged pup.

Superstar in the making. Plain and simple.

That would've been me, last week i made the comment that in the previous 2 weeks Steven pulled out of a marking contest & dropped a contested mark (against the swans). What can i say... he made a liar out of me with that courageous effort ... now perhaps if i can bag Lonie he might be inspired to prove me wrong like Steve did.
