With mal apparently set to return to melbourneat the end of the year , i would definately consider this deal ...we desperately need a big bodied defender ...it would free up Thornton and allow Whitnal to spend more time forward .

If the right deal came along, I would definitely consider it. If someone like Stevens could be traded to Brisbane, and Mal Michael could give us two or three years of service, I think it would be worth looking at. However, the chances look slim that a suitable trade could be sorted out. The PSD is where it is at anyway guys............

We will just pick up Gibbs or Hansen at the end of the year, three overall out of the first 20, pick a descent player in the PSD, and come next year the blues will be a much more appealing side.

The fact is other supporters dont realise (rightly so), that we do have some kids who will develop over the next few weeks, and after another pre season, and we will be a lot better for it.

Even more so after another clean out this year.

A forward line with options of Fevola, Whitnall, Kennedy, Betts, Fisher, etc and even a Lappin.

A backline with Thornton, Hartlett, Bower, OHailpin, etc has some potential.

A mid field with Murphy, Gibbs ?, Stevens, Simpson, Blackwell, Scotland etc

there is more hope than some realise, and the rise (not necessarily premierships) will happen quicker than some anticipate.

Jackson, Flint, and Smith are options out of the rookie list as well

He has already been through a controversial move in order to RETURN TO VICTORIA. He is now back home and has a bussiness here, so why would he wants to move to Qld all of a sudden ?

It may need to be a three way trade to off-load Stevens for one of them.

Are you suggesting we swap Nick Stevens for Jason Cloke? Dont want Jason Cloke, plays a loose man in defence role but not as well as Lance and mostly plays VFL. If we swapped Nick Stevens for Jason Cloke i would stop supporting Carlton. Id prefer there first draft pick and no Jason Cloke thanks.

He's been a great full back but not at 30. His better days are probably behind him. Stevens wouldn't be a goer anyway. the reason he left Port was to come home to his family in Victoria, plus he still has another year on his $500,000 contract, as does Lance. The days of paying our players to play at other clubs are surely gone.

No , Cloke would get cut up badly at FB . I would gladly take that trade but you don't need Jason there for that.
Michael may be an option for you if the paper talk is right and that he wants to return .
I don't think you would need to trade Stevens to get him either I suspect .

I don't believe that Stevens is even close to performing as a premier midfielder at the moment. You will also notice in my post that I questioned if we would get Cloke and a draft pick.
