2. NicNat. Stop handballing off to players who are not in a position to offload quickly or run a line. I keep seeing him take a mark and dish out a handball to a player who isn't in the right position.
Great game but lets sort this one out.

3. McGinnity. Why must this guy insist on giving away a stupid free (usually high or in the back), or a silly 50m at the crunch stages in matches? I wonder if the Eagles stats guy has picked this up?

Agree with both of these. It's not as if NicNat has bad skills, can kick it down the line if he really has too, but he should back himself to find a target that isn't just standing still.

As for Paddy, well.... he's playing the season out it would seem, if he hasn't been dropped yet there isn't much chance of it happening. But it will be interesting to hear the pre season reports of what group (forwards, mids, backs) he is training with because I have no idea what his role is. Would be happy if he was a tagger that just niggled and nulified but ah well.

Yeah I'm not a fan of Ashton Hams after tonight.

Agree. He really needs a good hard look at himself. Rarely even tries to win the ball anymore, just tries to milk some contact. If he didn't play for us, I think I'd hate him. Actually, I think I hate him anyway.

Can we train people to stop saying "dukes" while we're at it.

Please don't take something that Brian Taylor says in commentary and turn it into part of the vernacular.

It's a more common term than you may think.

As far as i'm concerned, I can't help but agree with all of the deliberate jibe towards Hams all season.

He's absolutely played for frees in every game he's played this year.
It's disgusting and I shake my head every time they're paid.

He looks for frees as do others but the only one who actually goes to ground and takes himself out of the play is Cox. They are legitimate frees but he needs to stay on his feet. Hams was caught high twice and just kept going. It is not as bad as everyone is making out, it is just that the vics had a whinge and now the umps don't give the free kicks as often, even when they are legitimate. Supposedly the umps think darling is a stager because he can't buy a free kick, how many times he has been held front on, hit in the head from behind and nothing, mackenzie has a slight over the shoulder against hawkins and gets pinged

I actually said to the missus at the game that someone needs to check Cox's cleats!

I think it all comes down to confidence. Hams knows he's not quite up to AFL standard, so he cheats. NicNat doubts his own abilities, so he looks for the first outlet. McGinnity ... hmm. He tries hard.

Hams may look for free kicks - but until the AFL says that's against the rules, it's not cheating.

Besides, he doesn't dive. He may look for frees, but when he doesn't get them, he doesn't flop to the ground with arms flailed.

Yep he does that duck to evade. When he first got a game in 2010 he used to do that cop the high tackle and look to play on until the whistle kept being blown and he was told to come back and take his kick, like he wasn't even expecting it to be paid.
With him it is definitely seems like a natural attempt at evading, I think he has just learnt that it will get him kicks now so he plays it up a bit more than he used to.

Yeah, cheat was a bad choice of word. I like Hams and I hope he matures physically and mentally. Seeing him play to draw fouls is cringe worthy, though.

Actually Nic Nat is responding to calls. Somebody already pointed out that Kerr calls for it a lot but Waters is one of the worst offenders. Frisday night he called for the ball from Nic Nat when he wasn't in any position to clear it. Did the same when Coxy took a mark in the backline and he had to give it back to Coxy who had to kick under pressure from the same place he took the mark. Waters also called for the ball to be kicked on to him from Darling after a mark in the 50. We needed the gaol badly at the stage and thank christ Darling did the right thing and kicked the gaol as Waters was in no position to take the ball as he had someone on his backside..not to mentiuon the difficulty of kicking the ball to him as he was leading toward goal. There was another instance where he called for it while standing on the boundary on our half nack line...much too dangerous for no reward so again, thank christ whoever had it (I've forgotton) didn't kick it to him.

They called, but he gave it to them. He isn't so simple that he lacks any free will to ignore the call. I understand that it can happen, alot of the guys were senior pnes, but still, NicNat isn't clueless and when he's taken a mark or got a free he can take a second or two to assess a little better.

Why does Hams not get any free kicks? He is almost always taken high but NEVER gets any frees anymore. It's not his fault he's short FFS. Was taken high twice in 2 tackles in a row last night and nothing but called a ducker when they were just crap tackles

Your deluded, Hams is always looking for free's instead of playing the game, those where a good call to call play on friday,
maybe he will learn to stop playing for free's and man his man up, instead of watching him take two bounces and deliver the ball beautifully to his teammates.
Ham's defensive pressure has dropped away to nothing lately, can somebody tell me when he last had a tackle that stuck ?

Doesn't deserve his spot in the side, Sheppard provides much more pressure than he does.

McGinnity is the crab we have to put up with as Scotty Burns loves him so does Woosha, if it was McGinnity last year I would be happy, the McGinnity this year is undeserving hack of a player getting a free ride, it amazes me people think his form this year is good.
Hoping he pulls a hammy, or some other 3 week injury so other players can get a game.

I reckon the playing for frees stems a bitfrom the big Cox. He is good at it because of his size and where he plays. You'd think others in the team would see the benefit of using a bit of skill to get a free their way. ( who wouldn't want a free)
He gave one of the umps a friendly pat on the back last night...I mean talk about being comfortable with his role.

It wears thin on the umps except in the ruck contest because no one knows what goes on there..
Not knocking the big Cox because he is one of the best ever and has such command of his game that he can dictate what goes on.

COX = Flailing Sky Dancer.
He isn't good at it and it is getting embarrassing!
