So DeGoey is out for the prelim. Let's be honest it's a massive out. But this team has enough talent to get back to the GF without him. So what do we do? Our defence is too good so I would hate to see Roughy or Moore go forward. Surely Reid comes in. What do you think?

Not as big as you'd think. I reckon Jamie is just as capable as De Goey and is a fine replacement for his skills. He will be missed for sure but he wasn't doing much last night before he went down.

I know Goldsack has effectively retired, but is he actually retired? That is, can he put on the boots in the Prelim?

Reid comes in if it was me. Plays forward and relief ruck. Was better than Cox earlier in the year anyway.

It’s more a question of if we can beat Richmond in a GF without DeGoey.

If you have the chance to watch the PA game - we were awesome in the first half and Reid was huge.
The fwd work and combinations between talks and small was mesmerizing. Reid also spent time in the Ruck.
I thought last night with 2 down the option of a get out kick to a second tall would have been handy.
I reckon he comes in as does Shaz.

I saw Taylor Adams playing in the back line last night so I expect that Aish is almost a certainty now for greenwood. No idea how to replace degoey. Don’t think Reid is the answer though.

Can't but hope WHE and Thomas can have more of an Impact they they had last night

Goldsack could come in. He was intending to keep training.

He not Officially Retired but there is 0% Chance of him Coming in

Yes DeGoo is a huge out but remember we didn't have Jamie last year and almost climbed the mountain.

Remember the current club creed . . . our injuries are not our story.

There isn't a like for like replacement so it's a matter of adding a different type of threat for the opposition to deal with.

Now I don't like the necessity as much as many of us here won't but the only one out of the team with the skillset to add enough value is Wells.

If the fitness staff think he will be able to play 70% game time he would be coming under consideration.

Yes it's a big risk but so was Moore and that played alright.

If we want to spread defenses as we did this week his skillset coming on and off the bench is a viable option - skillset I say - the fitness staff have the final say.

We’re in reasonably decent shape ...

... going into a Prelim (and potentially a Grand Final) with Reid, Wells, Goldsack, Aish, Sier, Daicos, Crocker as players who could come in. There’s a good range of experience / positional coverage there.

Do you think we would have won it last year WITH Elliott?

We could be playing Richmond in the Prelim again in 2 weeks, but this time without the 2 players who tore them a new one in the same game a year ago. A bit of a worry I must say, we just have to hope Checkers continues his H&A form.

Interesting that nobody has mentioned Varcoe yet. He was last out, he might be first back in.

Poor form for the majority of the year but his last month has been pretty decent, and he's a proven finals performer.

I'd trust him to hold up more than Reid, even if it means we play small again.

I think either Reid in, or Scharenberg back and Moore forward. One of the two has to happen. Im tipping Reid
Shaz can't play Greenwood's role on mids and smalls. Aish goes back and Reid goes to CHF if he got through the scratch match unscathed. Varcoe is also a likely replacement for DeGoey. I think we definitely need a second tall in our forward line.

So if Aish, Reid and Varcoe are ins who is the third out? Brown or JT?

Yes, its really a strategy without Cox. DeGoey was meant to be the man to replace him (hence Roughead going back to defence at the first opportunity).

So as that trick seems to have failed we go back to a genuine like for like to replace Cox, as Reid did early in the season.

Should have played instead of Brown yesterday.
