would be able to play next week, will be rested as a precaution, and we will have him back vs geelong
Please don't make things up.

He has not damaged the ACL, but the club are still awaiting the results of scans on his PCL.

He's looking a pretty long stay on the sidelines, but hopefully will be back before seasons end.

This from Gibbo's Twitter....

No reports as yet. Had a scan and the Docs are looking at it. He's really taking a liking to mens Heath though!!

His ACL is fine, and there is no break, which is the main thing.

Agreed wholeheartedly. Probably the best news really considering the horrible nature of the incident. After seeing it this morning on Channel 7, I'm glad I wasn't eating at the time.

All the best to Stratts, but I'm certain he'll be back better than ever. Tough lad, he is.

Yeah, not pleasant at all. The most important thing is Ben has a full recovery. The talk this morning was around 10-12 weeks, and there are other aspects of the injury that need to be considered too. I'm sure we'll hear an accurate assessment of his condition and expected return to the field shortly - scans were this arvo.

Fully ruptured pcl does not need an operation just time to heal and strengthening of the muscles around the quad and hamstring for support. PCL controls stability of knee back and forth while acl controls side to side. I fully ruptured my pcl last year and was back playing within 4 months, by my forum name I think you can tell I am no where near the condition of an elite athlete so have full confidence we will see Srtats back on the park later on in the season!

Ruptured PCL means they have to reconstruct the ligaments where the fibur is. Won't get back to proper rehabilitation for 4-6 weeks. Will probably be around 3-6 months before he will be back, but even he did come back early won't be 100% for at least a while after that.

Absolute best case scenario 3 months, but more likely 4-6 months.

Stratton played six matches last year and was playing his first game for 2011.

Nice fact checking AFL.com.au.......

Hopefully he can get back into it sooner rather than later. Was nasty to see it happen and looked like a season ender just from the graphicness of the impact. Hopefully 12 weeks will be the time frame and he can bounce back. Has become a key part of our defensive structure.

Where did you hear that?

PCLs are always much quicker than ACLs

I think we can look forward to seeing him again this season. :thumbsu:

On our club website but no mention of tme of (think i read abc grandstand was saying it)

HawthornFC INJURY UPDATE: MRI scans have confirmed that Ben Stratton has ruptured his posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) in his right knee. 34 minutes ago · reply · retweet · favorite

So there was a lot of talk about potential permanent weakening of the knee. Given the results of the scans, will this still be the case?

Poor guy, I feel quite sorry for him, had an awesome debut, and was looking to really stamp his authority over AFL backlines this year. Will be a big blow for his confidence, I wish him a speedy and successful recovery :)
