thought both these guys made very impressive contributions last year in an under-performing team.

hams brought terrific forward pressure and would have no trouble slotting in on any given day with the gameplan we are running this year. i also thought he showed a good nose for the ball and consistently looked dangerous inside the 50.

for mine, strijk was one of our best finds last year and i expected even bigger things from him this year. tough, attacks the footy, can take a mark and kick a goal, looked dangerous in the midfield and off a flank.

i'm surprised that neither has received much opportunity this year and would be disappointed to see them moved on unless they they are really looking for opportunities elsewhere.

i would say the rejuvenation of nico's career as a goal-sneaking forward and the immediate impact of darling are the biggest reasons they respectively can't get a game.

i have no real problem with that given the way those 2 blokes have performed however would hope that hams/strijk were next in line if form dropped or injury struck.

i also reckon either would make more impact as a sub than ebert or masten.

I wouldnt be surprised if one of them is delisted at the end of the year, especially Hams. Ive always said that if your 24 years old and arent an automatic selection then there is no point being on an AFL list, I think J-Pod is the only real exception to the rule, most other "mature age recruits are usually about 22. Hams is 25 in september and Strijk is 24 in october.

Not so sure about this. Every team needs its depth players, and while Hams is short he's a class above whoever we would take with the pick 60-odd that we would get for delisting him. Same could be said for Strijk, especially if he can have a solid pre-season.

Yeah I see what your saying, which is why id personally keep at least one of the 2 till next season, but I wont be surprised if a 24 or 25 year old who has played just one game for the year so far delisted, Id much rather have a Weedon or Koby Stevens or a Gaff play, instead of Strijk or Hams, and it seems the coaching staff has those players either infront or equal with Strijk/Hams, next season that gap is going to widen even further. not saying they will be delisted though, just that theres a chance maybe a 30 to 40 percent chance one is gone

To me i see 3 players trying to fit into one position. Especially with the advent of Darling who plays small and tall.

Either we have Ebert or Hams or Striyk

Ebert has had a lot of time and effort put into him and i believe the selectors are hesitant to drop for too long as they feel he isnt far away from a breakout season. He offers great marking capabilities and a handy alternative to midfield rotations. His goal kicking is not something you would put your house on.

Hams is older and smaller and hence has limitations. I however can only see positives in Hams. He could play a part in midfield rotations and has constantly shown great worth as a high half forward who can crumb, marks very well for his size and also can wheel onto that left and hits our big targets.

Striyk has similar good quzalities to Hams. Bigger player who moves well into spaces and provides good link play. Can kick goals from distance. Not certain he can crumb as well as Hams but certainly as well as Ebert. Question mark on his ability for Stamina.

For me i can see why they are persisting with Ebert; however i would much prefer Hams as we already have enough marking presence on the forward line.

Took my kids down to training today. Hams was training away from the main group with Gaff for the entire session. Whay would that be ? is he injured

play him because he gets frees?

2nd bit: no, no and no. he isnt a midfielder nor small forward so where can he play? nicoski's pressure is pretty good, i wouldnt say hams is better. its pretty good though nonetheless. nicoski is a much bigger body. not to mention that he crumbs alot better - not bad for someone who is almost 190cm.

There crumming is at least on par IMO Hams is better, Hams also delivers into the forward line better than Nico and has more presence when running through the midfield.

Nico is faster, bigger and has a longer kick, and whilst he is kicking goals and applying pressure he is always going to get the nod over Hams. IMO Nico's form wont last though.. can you see him playing another 100 games?

Usually means there's a fitness issue. Could be anything from having a light session to a fitness test.

Best to ignore Westcoasts official injury list. He's coming back from a calf strain.

As for Strijk i think he can become a great rotating midfielder from the forward flank. His disposal is so crisp and i think it's a great shame he isn't totally ready to run out games and stick to our game plan. If he was ready i think we would be a better side for it.

Hams has bigger problems because he doesn't have the same potential, he will earn himself an elevation in 2012 and get a real crack.

Watching Strijk dominate early in the WAFL GF reaffirms in my mind that he could and should still be playing at the AFL level.

Anybody share these thoughts?

Yes, but apparently he doesnt. Word is he didnt enjoy the full time footy gig and wanted to just go back to playing footy part time etc. Still has the skills to make it imo.

Chick who used to cut my hair in Joondalup's little sister was dating Strijik. Told me about it every time I got my hair cut

Yes she was massively gorj.

Seeing all this love on the first couple of pages...Strijk wasn't up to standard once we were a good side, and Hams' 2013 season (what he did play) was terrible.
