Was said on another website that Stuart Cochrane retired from SANFL football at the Centrals BnF on Friday night..........to take up a role with the Power.

Apparently he has a teaching background and used to do a lot of community work when playing with us.

Wonder what role it will be.

Photography for mediocre footballers? :D

Choco loves his players with a teaching background. Still, those guys who achieve with limited ability, and great dedication and perseverance usually do have something to pass onto younger players.

Thanks for the heads up Macca. :thumbsu:

Might have to get a family member to start making phone calls for more info on this one........

Stuart is sponsored by Merv Starkey who is a cousin of my dads. Merv also happens to be a silver sponsor of the Bulldogs..

He might have some inside info in all of this.

I do know that Stuart works as member of the development squad at the dogs. Maybe he is going to do this sort of role at the Power as well.

A teaching background don't make you a geniuse or a great football knowledge type guy.

Yes, I have been thinking that I could have made a better effort in stuffing up the grammar and spelling on that post.

All I feel now is shame. :)

No, no, no. Rest assured you did fine. :D

Cochrane was picked on this board for being a top 22 player when perhaps he should/could have been just outside of that, but no-one ever picked on him for either his attitude or dedication and that is perhaps also the reason Choco thought so much of him and rightfully so.
Personally I think he will not only be a good assistant but a great one.
Lets hope he is able to pass on his good traits to our "more gifted" youngsters.

Welcome back Stuey. :thumbsu:

Assuming he is being given a role with us it may not be a coaching one but instead a promotional or marketing one. But I hope it's true he's back as having met him a few times he's a genuinely nice guy and would be a good face for our club.

Agreed whilst he may not have had the skills of other players he certainly did have the right application and commitment that is required by AFL players.

How ironic it would be if he came back as our skills coach :p !

He is going to be the clubs new hair stylist.

2007 will be stamped as the 'Magical Mystery Tour' - 30 years after the release of the album - so who better to help promote it than our very own Beatle lookalike.

Hey. I got that one right in my original post.:D

Good stuff. Whilst I didnt like Stuart as a player, I can recogniose that he will be able to provided the younguns with some excellent advice and leadership.

Onya Stuey :thumbsu:

Well I'm relieved. Looks like his responsibility is to run with the young guys at training, and to run messages on game day. I think he is more than suitably qualified to do both.
