OK, been meaning to write this thread for a while, the "Taxi" thread reminded me.
What things have you done that you have just looked back on and thought 'I am a complete idiot'?
I once got into a Taxi after a long day at work on a Friday evening and as i sat down the taxi driver asked me "So where are you off to tonight?", me thinking he was asking what I was doing that night responded "Oh probably just going into town to meet some friends" which I meant I would be doing a few hours later after I had gone home.
So off we head into the city and after along day I didn't even notice where we were going but after about 10 mins I realised I hadn't even told him where I lived and wondered how he knew, so I tuned in to the situation and realised the mix up that had occured. I then had to explain to him that I didn't mean i wanted to go into the city but rather I wanted to go home, the guy must have though I was a nutcase driving in the opposite direction of my house before I told him. So eventually I got home with a much larger than anticipated taxi fare.
Another stupid thing I have done occured whilst I was driving, I had just filled up with petrol and was turning a corner of a back street when I realised I hadn't reset the temporary odometre so I put my arm through the steering wheel and pressed the reset button but as I did it the wheel was turning back as I turned the corner and my arm got stuck stopping the car turning half way. I feel so stupid looking back on it as I had to jam on the brake sending the car into a skid other wise it would have mounted the curb and gone into someones house as the car hadn't completely turned the corner and straightened up yet. Also left me with a sore arm for a few days after that.
