I was on the Geelong webiste looking at the past trades Geelong has made and in 2000 did we really trade pick 11 for Justin Murphy and pick 27, 45, 57 for Mitchell White? Three picks for that dud

Not only did we give up pick 11 for Murphy, we only received pick 23 when we sent him back the other way a year later!

I liken that to depreciation of a car. The difference in what you paid for it to what you get when you sell it is the amount in which it cost you to own. That doesn't always mean it was a cost effective thing though. Justin Murphy was alright for us, but in the grand scheme of things, certainly wasn't worth it, and killed us in resale. Could have been worse though, could have been a lemon and lost us a whole lot more.

I think over all, and particularly post 2000, we have been amongst the best at this, if not the best

still if we hadnt straded for pick 23, carlton may have got SJ!!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it. We wasted pick 7 on Kane tenace in 2003, dont you wish we could go back and get a better pick for him. Maybe Mundy (19), Waters (11), Adcock (33), Rischitelli (61) and considering our current ruck stocks Hudson would have been handy at pick 58.
Even Well's makes mistakes, and Murphy probably isn't the worst.

Yeah but in 1999 we traded Colbert for 4 picks and Cam Mooney, as well as Mansfield to Carlton for another pick.
We got Corey, Chapman, Ling and Enright in that draft.
In 2001 we traded Bizzell for 3 picks and Murphy back. In that draft we landed Bartel, Ablett, S. Johnson, Kelly and D.Johnson

Win some and loose some but those two years were some of the best draft results for one team ever!!! Makes the crap we get for Ablett look even more ordinary when you see what we got for Colbert
