rather enjoyed that. he's a pretty laid back dude. also liked his quite sincere "I want to see Freo play finals. That would be great!"

The actual makeup of the forward line seems pretty fluid at the moment with no certainty about the other tall forwards apart from Pavlich, and Ballantyne's role developing in the midfield. Love the idea of Anthony forcing a spot in there, but he really didn't put in a performance to tie up the place that he wants.

Nothing seems resolved about MJ, Grover, Clarke and Griffin for me either.

anthony will make his own luck, though, if he keeps up his effort. you can't fault him on that. if he'd kicked a couple of goals we'd be singing his praises.

I agree. I think Jack has not shown enough defensively, has not taken a contested mark, his turning circle is lumersome and his kicking has not reached its once impeccable heights. If he can lead strong and take marks, and kick accurately then I can see it.

Clarke has had his tyres pumped up for ever and a day now (quiter recently). We all see the talent I guess.

with the modern game forwards that can take a mark in contested conditions is more important than ever.

We need him

Would "hovering around the eight or maybe just scrapping in" be good enough result for the year?I dont think so.

I can't see us being any higher than 6th. So gettin into the 8 would be a win for me, given our injuries, the fact that our midfield is c grade and our forward line is g grade. We still have guys like jvb and Pearce on our list, I think we will struggle. Hopefully Lyon can bring a strong game plan and we can recruit well to have a crack in 2014

Sunday should be pretty interesting seeing Anthony, Bradley and Clarke all competing for essentially the same spot.

I just hope they get enough supply of the ball. The Tigers midfield is very strong and ours is realyl depleted.

He was saying without injuries and they are no excuse Lyon reckons.I'm just really going on how we went the last 2 yrs and that was without a game plan apparently, surely the game plan can't be that different.I was thinking 5-8 not a huge difference I suppose.

Not sure we are certainties to make the eight. Unless we have our best midfield all fit and playing great footy this season will be tough.
Barlow Mundy and moribito are unlikely to produce any where near their best after this pre season.

Think we may be waiting for next year once again

Sydney went allright in the middle, and against one of the best midfields of that era.
How many times have we seen a Fremantle team on paper, more talent, beaten by a more determined opponent?
If anything our structure should upset a few teams, and have an element of surprise.

Exactly my thoughts, Anthony especially can make strong leads but needs that ball being delivered in front and the other forwards creating space for leads. He was a gun on the lead with good supply at the Pies.

I can't see any reason why Barlow, Mundy and Morabito aren't full-strength by mid-season. To me that's the silver lining in their injuries, if the rest of the midfield can hold through the first half, then we have guns to carry us through in the second half.

We (well I know I did) kinda said this sort of thing alot last year, and it didn't really happen.

Barlow was coming off a horrific injury, any thoughts of a 100% return were wrong.

Mundy got injured.

Morabito was never going to play.

Into 2012, they all are technically 'available'. It just means their preseasons are extended barring any injuries.

Never understood how with a season 22 weeks long that not having a good pre season could mean that good players couldn't produce their best if they become injury free....with guys like Barra and Micky I'm a glass half full type of guy.
