BVB are a great club and do plenty of things right, but they are woeful when it comes to handling player contracts. Yet again they'll be forced to accept unders on 1 of their best players or risk losing him for nothing 12 months from now. How does this keep happening every single year?

If you're buying one of the best keepers in the Bundesliga it seems to suggest that the club thinks that's an area of priority to improve.

If it was one of your last signings in the window I'd feel less put out, but if I were Schmeichel I'd be feeling a bit jaded.

Would be an absolutely unreal signing for West Ham, 5m euro's, who cares, I'd just be trying to get it done, certainly a lot better than Benteke.

Has a 1 in 2 record in both La Liga and Serie A.

Agree to disagree. I dont think the ST we sign will become #1 choice, Kane is definitely one of the best in the league. What we need is someone who can play in the PL after we have mid-week games so we dont over burden Kane. Someone like Long is tried and tested in the league and should be able to come in and start while we give Kane a rest and you know what you'll get from him.

Someone like Jannsen or Batsuyahi could very well be the next big things. Or they could suck and we end up selling for 1/2 the value after one season. Plus I dont know how well they'd go in a front 2 with Kane, haven't watched enough of them to know. But Long would definitely be a great partner (better than Berahino & Callum Wilson that's for sure)

We need someone who can push Kane. Can play in his stead or alongside him but most importantly can be relied upon if he's needed for long periods... Ala a serious Kane injury.

We've got a striker who has two great seasons. This new signing will be lucky to start 10 games in the league if Kane stays fit. 25m on that isn't necessary

Yeah I think this will work against Spurs in the striker hunt, particularly as you seem to be going after some of the same players we are who know they are likely to be the number 1 striker at Arsenal or at the very least on level pegging with Giroud and play every 2nd game.

We should be either looking a Long type player or a young striker like Fulham's Dembele.

It would be different if we weren't in the CL. We could use the mid week game in the EL for the backup to get form (that's how Kane pushed through). But now Kane must play the 6 CL games we probably need a striker to come in and play on the weekend in the PL.

Personally I'd rather Long start PL games than an untried guy with one good season in Holland (Jansen) or Batsuyahi who looks similar to Kane and might even be as good as him which could see him shitty with lack of games early on.

My top 5 for us to get

1. Dembele (hope that he does an Alli and transitions easily)
2. Defoe (won't happen)
3. Long (suits the press and would partner well with Kane)
4. Jay Rodriguez (same as above)
5. Berahino

Yeah I read last week he was one of the strikers we were looking at, looks like things might have advanced a bit.

Only thing is his age, but you should get 2-3 good seasons out of him at least.

It's nice to see clubs other than the obvious mentioned in the same breath as players of Bacca's quality for once. Keep it up West Ham and Leicester!

With how rapidly players move around not sure why this is an issue. Take a year of payet (the year he just had) and if he's really going to drop off that much buy someone new this summer. I doubt he'll drop off much anyway. It's weird clubs think long term about things like this and then end up with a Depay.

I don't rate Will Hughes. Watched him several times over the years, reckon he's far more hyped than he should be.
