I suspect Benteke will still be there when the window closes.
It was always going to be the stumbling block(his massive wages). But you can't blame Benteke not wanting to take a pay cut.
I'd be happy for Chelsea to take him on loan if Remy goes. Not sure he'd want to be third fiddle for us though.

Palace have agreed personal terms with him already.
And thats why they can't afford the transfer fee you want?
Seems his high wages are a stumbling block.
So stop holding out for the extra 5 mil (that your club doesn't even need) and sell him.
How would his wages be a stumbling block when Palace have agreed terms with him?
They've already bid £30m, the only stumbling block is the add ons part of the transfer fee. Palace nred a target man desperately with their game plan and there is no better target man than Benteke in the PL.
Being only 25 is a bonus too.
Because you are desperate to sell. You don't want him and Balotelli sitting around the club collecting 200k in wages each week while doing absolutely nothing. Why should we? We're not desperate to sell. The market is over inflated. Palace need a big CF badly and they've just received £25m for Bolasie.
I see add-ons as an insurance policy for them, 7m would cover his wages for one season based on his reported wage demands. If he flops and fails to meet the add-ons then they are only really paying him (based on a 5 year contract) ~100k/week. If he hits them all then they would consider he is worth 30mill+ 125k/week.I guess because they don't have unlimited funds and have a budget. Higher the wages, lower the fee they can afford. Simples.
They had a £23m offer knocked back, there was £7m in add ons but it being knocked back suggests the add ons may not have be attainable/realistic.

Kid yourself all you like, your mob don't want him there.
25m is not just giving him away. You'd lose a small amount on what you paid for him but so what? Getting 25m is still better than not getting anything. As I said, Liverpool don't need to penny pinch. Just bite the bullet and piss him offWe definitely dont want Benteke but we're determined to not just give him away. We want the best deal possible which is completely understandable. 23 million is not enough because the 7 million add on's were unrealistic so the total fee would just be 23 million.
We want more and rightly so. I guess we will see what happens and who blinks first.
No doubt we will... but not for 23m. I think we will come to a deal of around 25m with perhaps 5m in more achievable add on's.25m is not just giving him away. That's not really how the market works. Just because you've paid x amount for something, doesn't mean others will.No doubt we will... but not for 23m. I think we will come to a deal of around 25m with perhaps 5m in more achievable add on's.
If Mane is worth 34 and Bolasie 25 possibly rising to the 30 then we should be looking for a similar deal.
It's not more than fair just because we dont want to pay his wages.25m is more than fair seeing as it'll cost Liverpool more than the difference to keep him around doing nothing whilst having his value drop for not being used.
Huh? That's exactly how the market works hahaha. That's not really how the market works. Just because you've paid x amount for something, doesn't mean others will.
25m would probably get the job done. Talk of 30 is just a pipe dream.
It's not more than fair just because we dont want to pay his wages.
It's not like Palace are saying....
Hey man 25 is more than fair, we're saving you like 6 million in wages next season by buying him off you so technically we're paying you 31 million.
Doesnt work like that.
I dont think wages are seen that way. A wage budget must be adhered to, not individual wages.Well it kinda does, Liverpool need to decide if paying him for minimum 6 more months until Jan and not playing him is worth not accepting a more than fair offer. With not playing his value is only going to go down whilst he wages stay the same.
