I wouldn't say he's "finished", but I too don't understand how it is just assumed that a bloke in his mid 30s who has had virtually a year out of the game is just going to step back in at the top level and be exactly the same player as before.
I'm not sure it's a case of that here. It's more a question of "is Cech an upgrade on Ospina and Szceszny?"

I'm pretty sure most of us in here would say yes. Ospina showed some good stuff, but his command of the box in the air was regularly found in question, and Arsene seems to have lost faith in Szceszny.

Where do you get that idea. Cech was still quality in 2013-14, so unless he's declined big time last season then you are wrong.

A bloke in his mid-30s missing virtually an entire year - it is likely to have some sort of impact. "Finished" is a bit strong though.

5 clean sheets from 7 Prem games in 2014/15 too, he does seem to struggle a bit with low balls nowadays but hes still quality.

And its not just his keeping, hes great at organising the defence as well, will make Arsenal a much better team.

Cech is a clubhouse leader as americans would say. a model professional with a great work ethic. i.e. no smoko in the shower after the game.

He made some fairly solid saves against Sydney FC...

Not bitter at all just don't think Cech is all that anymore.

If Lloris goes, he goes. We take plenty of players off smaller clubs so you can't complain too much when it happens to you. It's not like Lloris owes us - bit if he stays with us he instantly becomes a legend. That's how these things work

I'm ashamed I'm doing this but typeclub in your most unbiased opinion what do you think of this, don't give me the usual RM bullshit either, just your opinion as a fan.
I don't think much of it, like all links when Ramos is going for a contract. His negotiating position is weak because Varane is waiting.

We'll probably put something on the table and open the door if he thinks he's better than we do.

I look forward to his world class performances next season. I expect he'll be winning them alot of points

I can't see it being a straight swap for De Gea if RM decided to sell, if we value De Gea at 20-25m what would need to be added?

Completely disregard his 200m buy out.

Don't think he becomes a Tottenham legend unless he wins something. He's a great goalkeeper but is that enough to give you legend status at a club?

Will Soldado be sold this summer? He's in his 30's and just had a year off. He was shite to begin with tho.
I think the better question to ask is whether Levy is going to be able to dump Adebayor on another club or not.

Wants his contract paid out in full apparently (probably to create some more witchcraft against his family or something)...

the only real reliable source for lfc transfers says we are off the benteke bandwagon and looking at rondon, firmino and bacca.
how good is this rondon fella?

Perhaps because when he played for Chelsea during the season he showed no indication of having dropped off?

The sample size was fairly small. Intermittent appearances for the best side (and best defensive side) in the country don't really make a convincing case either way. Footballers (and athletes in general) generally need continuity in order to maintain performance levels, and Cech certainly has not had that recently.

I'm not saying that he is going to be a disaster signing or anything. And he is clearly better than what Arsenal has right now. I'm just not as convinced as others that a 33-year-old who has had virtually an entire season out of the game is just going to pick up from where he left off as Chelsea's first choice GK. But we'll see.

Ok, so he'll be an improvement on what Arsenal have, and will come relatively cheaply. Not exactly being mugged off then are they?

No doubt he is better than both of those.

He's 33 as of last month... that is barely even "mid-30s" if at all.
