You could say anyone who has been in your youth system has "come through" it.

Most people would interpret coming through the youth system as players being developed into first team regulars.

How many first team regulars has your academy developed since JT?
Again that wasn't what was asked. Faith asked if there were any coming through who have the potential to make the first team. There is.

No first team regulars from our academy have been produced since Bertrand.

Everton should just sell stones he doesn't want to be there, there squad isn't good enough to make Europe or bad enough to go down my as well sell get 40m for him and make the squad better soton show that there are smart buys out there if you are astute in your scouting.

As for the de gea comment someone will use about us it's a bit different champions league spot could be defined by him being number 1 or at Madrid

I do laugh at how people can't grasp the simple fact it's the way Chelsea are going about it which is why some people aren't happy with it. Clubs will always raid other clubs, always have & always will. But continually coming back after being told he's not for sale & using the media to unsettle the player further isn't conduct many clubs ever show.

Yeah you're right, it would be really unreasonable for a club to use the media to sway a player.

Just like last season when Martinez said he wanted Lukaku to come to Everton.
"We hope he has a really, really good World Cup . . . and then decides to come to us."

"We would love to have him back and people at Chelsea are good friends of mine so we are hopeful."

"There have been a lot of reports, some even saying I've told people it [a deal for Lukaku] is done, but the situation is very clear. We need a number nine going into the start of the season and we will make sure we sign one."

"Rom created incredible memories we'll never forget and enjoyed his time at Everton - but that doesn't mean anything between now and the end of the window."

How heartless as well for Chelsea to want a player and offer MORE MONEY for him.

I do laugh at how smaller premier clubs go on about big clubs raiding players from them when they do the same thing to other clubs
Yep, their tune changes when the shoe is on the other foot

By the sounds of things Stones was pushing for this as much as we were chasing him

Again, taking a different scenario & trying to pass it off as the same situation. He was away on loan for most of his Chelsea career, not someone who has been a crucial part of the team for the last couple of seasons.

i dont have an issue similarly to sterling but i wonder why mou always feels the need to buy rather than promote within?

Because he obviously doesn't think he has a solid CB that can replace JT for the long term.

I don't see how it's really relevant. You were annoyed that Chelsea used the media to talk nicely about Stones (barely) and Martinez and Everton did the same thing last year to sway Lukaku to join.

You can be disappointed, you can be angry. But don't go on about how immoral Chelsea are being when they are doing what many clubs do.

Pretty easy to work out, we don't have any young CB's coming through deemed worthy of being good enough.

So we'll buy one. Simples.

Because he is too scared to take a risk. He barely even rotates his squad of top players, let alone gives a chance to youngsters coming through.

He is the most "safe', pragmatic manager out there. It's results and nothing else.

Yep, we're just doing what every other club is doing/has done.

Doesn't make us any more evil than we already are.

****ing lol.

Nothing wrong with trying to sign a player. I can see why fans get annoyed by clubs who have been told that a certain player is not for sale who then take the approach (usually aided by the agent who wants a transfer to happen for their own benefit) of unsettling the player with the aim of eventually forcing a transfer.

For some reason fans of those clubs refuse to criticise their own club for the way they have behaved and use the "but you did the same thing" argument.

I hope Chelsea don't get Stones now and end up relying on JT for the whole season.

Surely this works the other way too though.

It's annoying and I'd be bothered too if someone kept coming in with bids for like Hazard. But I wouldn't act like they're being the antichrist for pursuing a player they want.

Hilarious schadenfreude though.

every manager at a top club is too scared to introduce youth. it goes wrong and you lose your job.

it's disappointing that we likely won't see much/anything out of kelechi, rony and denayer this season, but that's the way it goes.

You'd have every right to be annoyed if Real is in for Hazard, you guys tell them you do not want to sell and next thing you know there's rumours everywhere about him wanting out, not getting on with hihis manager etc etc.

Different story if Real want him and you guys are happy to sell but just can't agree on a price.

LVG isn't scared to introduce youth. Sometimes though, i am concerned that the youth might not be good enough. heck off Blackett.

Yeah LVG isn't too bad in that regard.

And as you say, the youth player might not work out - thing is, though, how can you really assess a player until you see him under proper match conditions? Training is one thing, but games are another.

Mourinho chooses not to take that risk and instead sticks with the tried and true. All managers are different I suppose.

Truth hurts I suppose.

Then again, it's not necessarily a criticism - Mourinho gets results.

But he doesn't do it with young players, the evidence is overwhelming.
No, it's a fundamental misunderstanding of why we want to buy Stones.

You've seen our defence this season. None of our youth players are good enough to make the step up. The closest would be Christensen and he's on loan to Monchengladbach which is a far better option for his development than trying to crack past Cahill, Terry and Zouma.

I agree he really doesn't play youth as much as he should and I think guys like Mikel and Ramires should be moved on for the academy guys.

In this situation though, there are no youth options for CB who could perform at the same level as the three we have now.

how much of the youth he has introduced been through choice?
