Henry admitted that he ****ed around when there was a release clause last season

I don't see how unless we are forced to sell via a release clause that we'd be selling Suarez, and if there is a clause there and the amount required is pretty shit then FSG should be held responsible. But they don't look the stupid type

Far more confidant of holding onto Suarez this season than last season

I'll be shocked if we make it to the end of the transfer window without a massive offer coming our way for him and obviously for a Spanish speaking player like Suarez I can understand the appeal of moving to Barcelona or Madrid and playing in an attack alongside Messi and Neymar or Ronaldo and Bale. All I'll say is that if there is a release clause it's going to be very close to a world record figure based on his form at present and at the time of signing the new contract.

Had we not offered him that new contract earlier in the year, he would still have had 3 years remaining on his previous contract so we weren't going to find ourselves at risk of losing him for peanuts this summer. I know Suarez himself has recently said that he doesn't have a release clause in this new contract, but if he does have aspirations of moving to one of the big Spanish clubs at some point in his career he'd obviously be silly to sign an extension with us without inserting something along those lines into the contract. However, by the same token we're not going to offer to double his wages without some sort of consideration in return. For that reason if it does exist I wouldn't be surprised if that release clause was in the region of £90-100m (which matches Rodgers comments earlier in the season that a) the club wasn't interest in selling him and had no need to sell him and b) the club felt that he was easily worth as much as Gareth Bale).

Whether any club is actually capable of and willing to pay that sort of money is another question entirely!

Did he now? Interesting if true

Tbh, we were doubling his wages with our new contract, likely with a huge sign-on fee, any money grabbing agent would've just signed it

I bet he doesn't have a release clause so it can honestly be denied, but rather has specific language of some kind in his contract relating to an approach by Real Madrid or Barcelona, along with other KPIs like Champions League, games played, final league position, etc

Soooo is this Balotelli to Arsenal thing actually happening?

It's hanging around isn't it.

75% sure it's the rags putting 1+ (Milan would sell) with 1 (Arsenal need a foward) = Balotelli.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we were working a deal for someone like Bony instead.

When you say Bony, you actually mean a 15 year old French forward nobody has ever heard of right?

Apparently we are in negotiations for Ecuador's Enner Valencia for about $7M. He's having a great WC but I always get apprehensive about buying players straight after a major tournament where their value gets inflated.

18 goals in 23 games in the Mexican league is decent but would be a pretty big gamble to bank on him sustaining that kind of prolific form at a higher club level in a competition he is untried in.

He'll be 26 next season, 7 mil and never played outside of Mexico/ Ecuador.......it's a big gamble.

Scored against Australia this year if i remember right?

Just on that jod, I read earlier that Swansea apparently are close to signing Gomis on a free so maybe Swansea are preparing/plan to sell Bony?

He's actually 24 apparently so that makes it a bit better haha.

Yep you're right, I believe he got an assist plus scored the winner in that Australia friendly. He'd be the exact kind of player Cashley likes to buy - young enough to have resell value.

Any word on what might be happening with Joel Campbell? Wouldn't mind taking a look at him if he were available. I read somewhere this morning that you guys might trigger Remy's release clause from QPR and with the talk of Balotelli, would he be in the first team frame?

happy with how my boys millwall are going this transfer period.. I see we got rid of the aussie Shane Lowry any idea where he is going? an yet where keeping scott McDonald haha

Released on a free transfer I just read - would be a handy pickup for another championship side you'd think.

Apparently Perth Glory are keen on him too (not sure if he'd want to come back home just yet though).
