According to Di Marzio Milan keen to take Torres on loan for a season with an option to buy at the end. Fernando wants to keep getting paid the current 150k a week he's on now, this will make it tricky(there's also talk of a payout).

Apparently Destro is lined up to replace him at the Bridge, haven't seen much of him is he decent?

Works hard and knows how to finish, but if you're a young striker atm you wouldn't go to Chelsea, would be surprised if he gets much game time over Costa who'll start most games

If you're a young (quality) striker you absolutely go to Chelsea. Costa won't start every game and you'd be ahead of Drogba in the pecking order. You won't walk in and be first choice but you'll get enough game time.

If Costa goes down injured, you'd have the spot to yourself. Really depends how young you're talking but you'd get to be managed by Mourinho, learn off some of the best players going around and would get their service on a silver platter.

If they could put their ego to the side for a season or two, it would be an excellent apprenticeship.

Yep, you'll still get plenty of game time as our second in line. Reading a bit more about Destro he does sound like he'd be good signing as back up and plays a style of game that Mou likes.

Mourinho's not really renowned for raising up a lot of young players, he prefers experience coz he's looking to win things

There's Sturridge and Lukaku as examples, Destro's entitled to do what he wants but he's probably better off going somewhere he can lead the line most weeks, he is good enough to, but I ain't his agent

You can be my agent.

Oh he's a great captain, just not the ultimate captain. He ticks all the boxes except the actual cares about the club box. He is Belgian. He's not from Manchester.
The ultimate captain leads his team to the Premier League title.

Gerrard is from Liverpool and Kompany, from Belgium, has more PL titles than Gerrard.

This is a terrible argument, job. Quit before you get even further behind.

Mou will play the young guys if they are good enough. Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard, Azpi, Courtois and soon van Ginkel, Salah and Zouma are all young players.

Even Costa at 25 isn't all older player.

Mou doesn't care about age, quality is what matters most IMO.

Lukaku would have played plenty if he wanted to be at Chelsea, while Sturridge. ......I don't want to talk about that

Bad examples.

Schurrle had a very good World Cup and it would almost be madness not to start him. Oscar had a breakout season (well the first half last year), and established himself very well in the side. Hazard is one of the best young players in the world and it would beyond idiotic (even for Mourinho) not to play him regularly. Azpi was the best LB in the league last year, and Courtois had strong reasons to be in front of Cech.

Well Courtois did his apprenticeship elsewhere first to become what he is today

Hazard and Oscar were basically world class young talent before they arrived, and the managers before Mourinho kinda played and developed them first. They were proven top internationals before he arrived.

Azpi made it because he worked hard and was very good, but to be honest the decline of Ashley Cole had a lot to do with him having the chance to cement the spot, Mourinho was playing Cole early on last season and he just wasn't up to it

Costa's won the La Liga and was one of the best strikers on the planet

I don't think Destro is quite in the class of any of those players yet, so he's better off developing somewhere else, but Chelsea can buy him I don't care. Although I think they can probably splash the cash on a proven experienced top striker even as a no.2

Gerard grew up an Everton fan.

It more highlights the great job that Emenalo is doing, but it does also show the faith Mou has in our younger players.

Im not saying he's developed them into what they are, just that he's happy to play them over older and more experienced players and that 'Mou doesn't play the kids' is a wrong stereotype.

That was an unconfirmed rumour isn't it? Carra definitely was, mind

I don't think he does when he doesn't need to, if he plays them it's only because they're already hardened players, and most the examples raised were

Anyhow no point going on about it, Chelsea would've bought a top experienced striker as 2nd choice already if they didn't have a giant Torres shaped problem to deal with

It's no different to City signing Jovetic, who was roughly the same age.

Destro has a good record in Serie A, and just recently broken into the Italian side.

If they are good enough they will earn game time, and Chelsea is a pretty good option imo, with Drogba a quick fix and Torres obviously just counting his cash till his contract finishes.

22.14 BST: Mark Ogden of the Daily Telegraph is a man in the know when it comes to Man United. He the journalist who broke Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement. This is what he has just had to say about Angel Di Maria:

Fee agreed between United and Real for Di Maria. United to pay an initial £59.7m.

- Mark Ogden (@MOgdenTelegraph) August 25, 2014

Under 60m is great, that'll rise if trophies and CL comes but small price to pay for those. Di Maria is also in Manchester's Carrington complex having a medical.

I remember when people were saying the big names won't come to us without CL, as always money talks.

Shaw, Herrera, Rojo, Di Maria. If we weren't struggling it's an amazing window. If we can bring in a DM and another midfielder/CB it's a superb window.
