Article in the Sun today , about how well our list is balanced and how the up comming draft will effect it
The Cats MUST delist a min of three players even though we might be happy with our list so we might endup redrafting some players. The player named were Spriggs and McCarthy

What the?

Has not the Great on shown he has flaws that he might never overcome?
Has not Spriggs shown that apart from endurance he has nothing that makes him stand above several others on the list and each year the likes of a Byrne will make it harder and harder for him.Who will be this years Tenace or Moloney? No matter at which end of the draft I have confidence we will get one that will be an addition to our best 22.

We have super young list with promise but we also has some projects in amongst them, if we can improve our list we must be hard eyed and release the guys who will need the extra work.We cant aford to spend 5 years plus to develop fringe players. We must learn from David Clarke , sometimes all the effort in the world will not make up a lack of Natural Talent

Its not really a problem having to delist 3 players, does trading one away count?, Foster will go, Rahilly can go and spriggs can go. Add a first round, second round and 3rd round draftee to the team and already its a much improved team.

By the way NanaC we will have to delist 4 , so Byrnes can go on the main list.We will probably have to trade players for picks other than other players because you must have 3 picks. For instance we trade Spriggs and Rahilly for P20 , value for somone but we get another low pick and not use one of our lower picks.

The players that will be in the gun to be traded or delisted:
Spriggs
Foster
Slade
Rooke
Enright
McCarthy (The Great onE (forgot the E on previous post)
Thurley
David Johnson

Pretty much spot on, but youd definetly want something for Rooke Enright Spriggs Johnson and McCarthy

Anyone is tradeable given the right price.

But I can't see Rooke or DJ being shunted. Both are favourites of Bomber. And Enright has had a horrid year with injuries but that isn't a resaon to get rid of him.

In fact, Jimboy with the latest injury I think it would be very bad form for the Cats to now put any pressure on him at all.Unless he requests a go home thing because of his injuries we must support him through his bad current run.We must not give the impression to anybody that we flick people quick smart because of injuries, esspes. the other players on the list.
To me Enright is now off the tradeables list

Certainly now!

Certain players are tradeable (eg. Spriggs, and as much as I hate to say it, Rooke, some others), but only with the proviso that you get a worthy player in return. It doesn't do much for the team to get rid of semi-established players in return for speculative prospects. Probably harms team morale, which seems to be pretty high right now.

Well you do get rid of injury prone players. Everyone knows that if you can't reliably pull on the boots and start playing regularly, then it's time to give it away, such as was the case with Paul Lynch. But Enright's injuries shouldn't affect his long term prospects, and I see no reason why he shouldn't play a full season next year. For me, he is still in our best 22.

Would Riccardi be near retirement?
Touch and go. Although given this apprent problem with having to axe 3 players, it may be in Riccardis and the Clubs best interests for him to retire at the end of the year.

Personally i think he still has a lot to offer, his form this year has been brilliant. Provided his body can handle another year.

Nana , I dont think its in the clubs interest to push out a long serving player who as youve said has shown some of his best form for years.Ricco should play as long his body is holding up and aslong he is contributing to the side. When Ricco finishes I dont want any more statements in the press, TV what ever about the Cats pushing him out. We must learn from previous issues, keep him around the club when the time comes for hime to go , runner , skills coach I dont care but no more bad mouthing the club.Thats in the future , say 06 or 07 because he still is a player who is need until we get at least another 5 to 10 players around 100 games

There are other players that are tradeable and are not as ingrained in the fabric of the club

People are kidding themselves if they think Rooke will be traded.

Although he has his flaws (no peripheral vision comes to mind) he is a success story of our recent recruiting. Didn't come through the normal channels and has worked hard to make it in the big time.

His effort and attack on the ball are what this current side is all about and he will be there for years to come.

McCarthy has had his chances and is to go the way of Marcus Baldwin.

The analogy of Spriggs and Clarke is pretty good. I think Spriggs' trade value is higher though.

I can understand what your saying Turbocat, and I think they should keep Riccardi going for next year as well. I suppose what im getting at is the fact it could possibly come down to a choice between Riccardi or McCarthy, who could be delisted go to another club and hurt us. He may well not but choosing to keep Riccardi on the list over a young player may, in the long term be as rewarding.

still, keep him on I say!!

Whats the possability of delisting haynes....?
he hasnt done much and isnt exactly starring in the VFL
How long is his contract? maybe 1 more year?

Nana

did you see any off that tripe served up today in the V's. very few players did anything that impessed me, but one was the Great One , the big Mac himself. He at least took contested marks.
Haynes did alright , Mackie is a much better player with quality around him rather than the V's. We really lacked ball carry, not enough quality ground players.
It doesnt seem that long ago when we had nothing mids , but I'd almost now recomend as go for a quality mid or a ruckman in this years draft and lighten our project talls.Who?On todays form

Spencer , not impressed! clumbsy , a poor man Stephen O'Rielly and he wasnt that agile. Thumbs down

Smith , what a weak, soft player he looks, thumbs down

Longergan, not a backman , last time I saw him he played forward and impressed far more . Tides out

Blake , looks to be underwheelming in the ruck at cb but maybe its just a lack of quality at his feet, like to see him go the punch like his old man a couple of times, tides out

Chambers , at this level looked a decent ruckman but not much else.Still the second best at Geelong which says more about our alterenatives to King , thumbs up , must stay

MCCathy , as said above . Thumbs up

Foster , didnt see him , but Thumbs down .time to move on.

Egan,Cleeve. Funny I dont think we can get these guys but Id like to see Cleeve on the end of some good supply. He would be interesting in the A's with quality delivery. Also Egan showed a bit.

Have I missed any? Today we could get rid of half the side before McCathy , but we looked real light in the on ball.Would love to get sombody like Moore or Lewis in the draft although Meesen would be good too.Just no more sheepdog, tall midfielders types, another Moloney or another King/White/Ottens type
