Bit stiff. When he adds the outside stuff to his game he will be unstoppable. He is building the right foundations.
Coming into his 4th season in 2023, although 1st yr was mostly a wipeout after doing his shoulder. Will get to 50 games and after another pre-season, the 4th yr is generally when you get to see most improvement and I don't think Matty will be any different.
And his great mate, Noah also will be his 4th season.........really looking forward to 2023.

That's some crazy list management right there.
I would have been more happy with 3 for sure.

But he has definitely improved this year (still a long way to go)

There was talk about a fair bit of interest from down south, cal twomey mentioned numerous times.

How many key defenders have been taken out of the state leagues recently.
Guys like Sam durdin cut at age 21 and then given another go 2 years later.

They are at a premium right now. Especially with the good young tall forwards around the league.

Yeah sorry the bloke seems state league level. I reckon 1 year but if interest elsewhere 2 years. He doesn't have a football brain and makes too many critical errors. I also think Collins plays worse when he is in the team, where as he plays better when Thompson is beside him.

The one hope is cale hooker was similar early days, like a deer in headlights out there and came good, so hopefully it's the same with Graham. I'm just not seeing it at the moment and Liam Jones would have been a smarter more competent option if wanting to genuinely push for finals in the next two years (despite his age).

I think 4 years is too long.

I just don’t think he currently has traits worth a 4 year deal, and he isn’t a high enough rated talent to think he will definitely come good within that time. He could be a serviceable defender, maybe even surprise us and become a good defender. He could also be nothing but VFL quality that we are stuck with on a long deal. 4 years seems an unneeded risk for our list for most of our players.

I know he has improved and is still young, so I think definitely extend him and give him a chance.

But currently we all know his faults. He is VFL level. He can barely play on any forward his own age, let alone a good forward. I can’t think of a single half-decent forward he would beat in a one-on-one.

He wasn’t a high pick nor was he highly rated in his draft year. So where is all this internal and external confidence coming from that warrants him committed to us until 2026?

2+1 was the absolute maximum it should have been, but 2 should have been seen as fair. The club seems scared to do smaller contracts for our bottom end players. Then our list is clogged, just like it is every year…

Anyway, congratulations to the crab. Here’s hoping that he comes good.

And he isn’t wrong, it’s always something with the Suns. Yes we have improved this year‘s and while I may be in patient after all it’s only been 11 years I expected us to have a redhot crack at finals, we should be accounting for teams such as Hawthorn. I know it’s not a popular opinion around here but it’s just the way I see it

Noah "hasn't give much thought to his future", "feels like home"
**** didn’t Rankine say that too!!!!!

Seriously the kid is a gun, sew him up early Suns

Anderson and Rowell were speaking to Nick Riewoldt a few weeks ago and pressed them twice to give an indication on if they would stay on after next year. Neither answered the question and deflected. Just another year of frustration and anxiety waiting for players to sign and the media circus that inevitably follows.

If Rowell and Anderson go (I see them as a package still) then we are in huge trouble. We have basically stalled all progress on any other mids to develop them. Brodie, Fiorini, Bowes, Greenwood, even Swallow at times have been held back or moved out so Anderson and Noah get 100% midfield minutes. I don’t think they go anywhere, but money can talk big (as seen with Rankine) and clubs will come knocking for sure.

In particular, I could see Anderson commanding big money next year if he improves just a little more. Rowell is a contested beast, but it is currently Anderson who is the more impactful mid.

The question is how much are we willing to pay. I believe both will do Ben King and sign early and for less. But who knows after lovefest from Rankine only to leave probably.

All Noah said in that specific interview is that the path has been set by miller, Witt’s, Powell, Ballard, luko in setting the culture and signing long term extensions. Then when asked again about the coast he raved about the lifestyle. Sounds pretty good to me.

If you had to project our highest paid players it would certainly include King, Rowell, Anderson, Hollands, Miller in the elite bracket Hopefully all 800k
