Fall Out Boy

Looking forward to seeing this film, should be interesting.

Anyone else going to see it?

For those that don't know what it is, here's a little rundown.

"Two out of three Americans are overweight or obese, but where does personal responsibility end and corporate responsibility begin?
On the heels of two teenage girls suing McDonald’s for making them obese, director Morgan Spurlock set out to discover what has made people in America so fat. Spurlock decided to conduct an experiment in which he would subject himself to a diet of nothing but McDonald’s fast food for a month. He laid out some conditions:

He only allowed himself to eat what was available over the counter at the restaurant (including water)
He couldn’t super size unless asked (nine times in total)
He had to eat every item on the McDonald’s menu at least once
He had to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.
Throughout his descent into the maelstrom of bad food, he visited doctors and health professionals to track his decline in health. At the beginning of the experiment, Spurlock clocked in at a svelte 6’ 2” tall and 185 pounds. His cholesterol was a healthy 168, his blood pressure 120/80, and his body fat measured 11 per cent. You may be shocked by his measurements after a month on a McDonald’s diet!

This “Columbine”-esque indictment of America’s obsession with fast food won Spurlock the Best Director award at the Sundance Film Festival. "

Whats the distribution like for this film? Is it gonna be in cinemas or is there just gonna to be 'boutique' showings?

It's getting a single screen at most bigger cinemas. Village and Hoyts will have it on at all their sites.

The film is top 10 in the States, despite being on a miniscule amount of screens.

There was an article in on of the Sydney papers on the weekend. After 21 days his body nearly seized up due to the incredible amount of sugar his body had to consume, over 13kgs in three weeks

If you have not been to the US you will be amazed at the portions of food and drink they consume! Unbelievable.

I saw their super sized drinks and chips, and couldn't believe my eyes.

They would have to be at least double the size of our large, which are already quite big.

Just went to their Aussie and US sites, and did a comparison on one of their meals.

The same meal (burger, chips and drink, all large) has 20grams more fat in the States, than it does here.

Buggered if i know how they could possibly fit more fat into their food.

Oil. And lots of it.

Their Aussie food is already laden with the stuff, so much so that after eating it, one develops a lead stomach.

Couldn't stomach another 20grams of fat from their burgers and chips.

From my experience in the US, earlier in the year, unless you're a resident... pretty much all that is on offer is fast food. Obviously varying in class from an outlet such as Maccas to a family diner like IHop, but neither are too flash health-wise.

Haven't actually heard anything about this, but does sound an interesting film

I've seen the super sized drinks in some stores here. Could never even think about getting through them in one meal.

I usually get a small chips and drink, can rarely finish the medium. Would love to see this film, hopefully it'll put me off McDonalds which I eat 3-5 times a week

oils ain't oils

There's oils and oils, and there's fats and fat. Some oils and fats are essential for healthy humans, and you can point to us all and see the symptoms of their deficit.

But some oils and fats are SO dodgy for your health... it's just a matter of a 30 second explanation and you'll comprehend why to avoid them. believe me. Like if someone explained to you why sugar in the gastank of your car will **** up the motor. Anyhow

I'm sure Ronnie Mack's oils are as dodgy as all get up. It just stands to reason. ALL the food ingredients in Fast non-food restaurants go through various FULL-ON CHEMICAL/INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES.

Animal oils in moderation are as essential for a1 health as are vitamins. Maybe the top-notch veggy oils too ... they make you live longer - scientifically proven.

Weird nutrient-stripped canoila-toxi oil, that's hydrogen injected to alter the valence of the deoxy-hydro foofer valves? THis is not food my friends.

The same "evil multinationals" that make the toxic ingredients also make the dodgy chemical cures, which are supposed to "cure the obesity disease" but which (laughably if it weren't so sad) make people sicker; and who make the chemical infrastucture and supplies of civilization. They're the most powerful because they're the most useful, and they fought to the top. They're secret because they're so destructive and dangerous, (eg, ever seen Toxic Avenger?") ... pays to be low-key. To some people, they seem malevolent.

ANyhow, I've forgotten my name. Mork calling Orson, come in in Orson.

Methinks someone is playing funny buggers.

As of last week, both major cinema chains were going to be devoting one screen at each cinema to Super Size Me.

A week later, with the film doing massive business in the States, both chains have decided to limit the release.

Hoyts aren't even showing it in Victoria, whilst Village are only showing it at three cinemas, they being Geelong (quite apt), The Rivoli and Southland.

One wonders if McDonald's has used their influence to reduce the impact of the film.

oh yeah and i am sure it wasn't just Mickey Dees. ;)

I eat maccas as i love their cheese burgers but I don't need to see some americano eating himself to death to know how bad the food is for you.

Shame films like these need to be made to educate the huge masses which are soo incredibly dumb.

i.e teenagers.
