Anyone else confused about these calls we're getting?

It's the time of year where someone from some firm rings me to fork over $200 for the chance to win a Mazda and they did so tonight.

This one was a bit strange because it was under the premise that all money raised is going to the development of 18-20 year olds at the club. Scouting, sports psychology, personal training programs, the works.

official page mentions nothing of the sort and makes it look like a vanilla raffle:: http://www.nmfc.com.au/supportandwin

I guess what raised my eyebrows was why are the members being engaged to pump a once-off payment into an ongoing football department expense?

Looks like it is the same one run every year and it is being run by promoters who do the same event for a number of football clubs.

Not sure how much of the $200 actually hits the club's pocket, but we would need to sell close to 400 just to break even on the prizes. At least with the smaller raffles everyone can be guilted into buying a few tickets, I guess the principal is it is cheaper to hit a few people for a lot rather than a lot of people for a little.

Love to know what percentage we get too. Usually marketers like this take a big chop. The guy was so chummy, matey, buddy...........

I blame Jame Brayshaws.

How abouts if someone at the club PMs me Jame's mobile and see how much he likes it when he gets a call at 7pm in his down time.

I contribute my fair share to the club. I don't need some pretentious jerkoff ringing me to contribute even more at some horseshit hour.

So yeah someone PM me with that Turkey's number.

Make it happen Eugene_Arocca. :stern look

I don't mind them. As soon as I realize it's a sales pitch I tell them "no thanks" and they politely end the call. As long as their not rude and don't hassle, I'm good with it

its more about the money going to help develop the 18-20 year olds

Why do you have an issue with this? NMFC is a football club - raising money to put back into player development should not be an offensive or surprising concept.
