Swans cut 3

I hadn't heard much about Gilchrist this year so I was expecting that and the other 2 are no surprise. I feel for KT as he definitely has some ability but injuries really buggered him. Showed last year he is capable of playing decent footy at seniors level.

Does this mean Barlow is safe?

really harsh on gilchrist though, just 1 year on our list maybe gws will pick him up.
Too skinny, good kick but not hard enough, maybe he will go back to his old club , Caulfield Grammerians where you don't need much ticker.

Should also cut Barlow and O'Dwyer.

yeah that's what i was thinking too. 5 gone will mean 3 draftees, minimizing our exposure in the compromised draft and possible a trade to replace Kirk's spot in the team as in a mundy/jetta/sphanger for a 1st or 2nd rounder.

since we have tom mitchell signed we should trade picks for 24-25 age bracket players the next two years say if bolton x 2 or bradshaw leaves or we trade someone like bevan or moore.

the only irreplaceable we have right now is goodes and we should use him carefully if he is to play another 4-5 seasons.

Barlow has 26 games under his belt and might attract some interest from other clubs. That's probably the reason he hasn't been delisted.

using barlow for a 2nd round upgrade for another trade will be a good result, any other year it might be unthinkable but this year our 2nd round will be quite low, so someone like richmond might go for him to replace their mids with a bit more experience.

I hope he doesn't but I really don't have any inkling about him. I can see him going but I can see good reasons for him to stay.

I hope we keep him. I think he can be a player if we need him. Not best 22 but a good depth player.

It just proves that even if both of your parents played cricket at the highest level, you won't necessarily make it as a professional sportsperson.

Barlow and/or MOD wont be delisted by the Swans until after trade week it increases their chances of ending up somewhere and ours of getting something for themn... Mark Powell got traded and I think it stunned our staff. I think it must be acknowledged that poor Thornton's body is too far gone to be worthy of anything at the trade table.

Thornton's a sad case of too much injury and Jake didn't get off the ground in 2010 so fate marked his cards.

Gilchrist however can not say the same. The Ressie watches never really spoke of him with any enthusiasm of getting close and when your a second year rookie you need to be at least knocking on the door near the end of the season.

i believe we can also put two players on the veterans list. say goodes and rok who are probably the two highest paid players at the club. would free up positions on the senior list as well as salary cap room and would allow us to offer big dollars to a decent player, say like a pearce or someone.

All four teams in 2010 grand finals, two of them won, what did Ormond do this year?? :o

Very disappointed that Gilchrist hasn't been given another go.

Ha Ha, i wondered how long you would take to bite. 6 9 to none in the first quarter and lost, maybe Gilchrist might help next year. Good to see a suburban club beat the old school tie.

Surely Bradshaw and Bolton would go on before them, not sure about Goodes but I'm sure that ROK wouldn't be eligible.

Bradshaw cannot go on the veterans list because it is based on the number of years a player has been at the club they are listed. From memory Bolton and Goodes qualified last year but if they are put onto the veterans list we still need to spend about 92 percent of the cap forcing us to spend more on the players we have or throw money at others. By keeping them off this list it gives us more flexability to offer our developing players more as they improve.
