haha.. not sure if you've ever been done by a bluebottle.. they f**king hurt!

ps.. hot water, as hot as you can handle. I just about gave my 5yo boy 3rd degree burns and he thanked me for it. (he didn't go in the ocean for weeks - fear of bluebottles not his dad burning him)

They are not that bad! They sting quite a bit for about 20 minutes and then, if you've been badly stung, you can be kind of light headed for a while afterwards and it's best to take it easy for the rest of the day, or at least the next couple of hours. Absolutely right about hot water being the best treatment. (To think, when I did life saving training just over 20 years ago they taught us to apply ICE!) The problem for me is that I scar up from bluebottle stings (which is not typical) and I still have scars on my body to show for it, (although the scars have faded significantly over years).

Anyway, good effort of Brodie to put his morning misadventure behind him and not to let it put him off swimming in the ocean, which is a gift to the soul.

I did a lot of running as a teenager and into my twenties. I loved running along the beach at that high tide mark(the sand was hardest) where all the blue bottles got stranded. I had been stung by blue bottles in the surf so this was my revenge. I busted hundreds and hundreds of them but some of them stung my feet.
Ah memories....

Nick dal Santo interviewed on Fox Sports. Was up in Sydney and saw the Swans & Giants games. Said he was originally very doubtful about the Round zero concept but now loves it after being up and at the games.

Robbo of course - missed the entire concept of what Round 0 was all about and said there should have been a big game in Melbourne on the Sunday.

It's just such a weird thing to be doubtful about anyway.

It's footy. Footy games can be fun and exciting regardless of where they're playing.

The most fun I have ever had at a game of football was a Sydney vs GWS derby at an Optus Stadium that was three quarters empty.

We cannot claim to all be fans of the greatest sport in the world if it's a sport that becomes inferior as soon as it's moved from one ground or city to another.

There is nothing in the AFL charter that says the 1st game needs to be played in Melbourne

I always thought u rine was the appropriate remedy.
That said, I’m not sure Brodie would have appreciated that considering the positioning of the sting.

Opening Round did 2 things the AFL love: got eyes on the product in NSW and QLD for TV views and circumvented the AFLPA's desire for each side to have 2 byes during the season.

If the NRL leave the country for a round again, I 100% guarantee you that round whenever during the year it is, will just be the same. Just 4 games all in NRL heartland and byes for everyone else

I like Opening Round. It pisses Victorians off. Next year to piss them off even more, it should be NSW/QLD v WA/SA because not everything is about Victoria :)
