I hear they do death metal really well too, but Sweden are riddiculously good at guitar pop from what i've heard. Have been thrashing Peter Bjorn and John's first two albums and they're terrific. Also love Jens Lekman and the Shout Out Louds go alright from what i've heard.

I thought this thread was going to be about barbie girl -!

I have Jens Lekman but usually skip it when it comes on shuffle. I'll give him more of a go.

Peter Bjorn & John's first few albums are fantastic.

Taken by Trees & Anna Ternheim are also both excellent.

You can never have too much TSOOL. Totally awesome band - especially live.

And of course no Swedish music thread could be complete without a dose of The Hives

Bit of a bump, but Jens Lekman is an absolute jet. I start out not liking most of his stuff, but it grows on you in time. "A Postcard to Nina" a big example of that!

Quite like Movits! too, but their stuff isn't in English as far as I'm aware:

Any other suggestions not already in this thread? Have really started to get into Scandinavian music over the past six months or so.

Big fan of Datarock, they are Norwegian rather than Swedish but still a great Scandinavian pop band.

These tracks were huge a few years ago, featured pretty heavily in the Hottest 100 iirc.

I was pretty much obsessed with Roxette in the early 90s.

Guilty:o Especially these ones:

Thanks for getting me into Datarock. :) Haven't even thought of them for a few years now, so good to get acquainted with with some of their other stuff.

If we're talking about broader Scandinavia, a Danish band called Nephew are pretty quality:

Lack of both The Sounds and Sahara Hotnights (Maria Andersson is a goddess) in this thread is disappointing. Two of the best guitar pop songs of the past decade (regardless of coutry of origin) IMO right here:

Robyn deserves a mention too:
