Sydney's strategy of "bomb it to Tippett" arguably worse without Tippett

Tippett's impact on the Sydney game plan seems to have stuck even without him in the team. Tippett's absence should have been a huge positive for Sydney, but the rest of the team obviously didn't get the memo.

Will Sydney ever regain their culture and game plan?

Tippett's absence was meant to be a huge positive for the crows too ;)

Sydney had approximately 3 minutes of the game inside their forward half yet had only 3 less inside 50s than Fremantle (39-42 respectively). Is there any better example of bombing it not working? What happened to working the ball forwards and kicking deeper to a leading forward? Where are the kicks to a leading player 30m out? Why does it go in so poorly and then pinball straight back out?

Whenever forward of centre the 2012 Sydney game plan of work it through and pick a lead devolves into bomb it to the top of the 50 to a pack.

Will Sydney ever remember how they played sans Tippett? Weren't they kind of okay at some point recently? Or will their game plan be forever delineated as pre- and post-Tippett eras? So many questions.

To be fair, when the game was in the balance the problem wasn't the quality of entries, it was simply that it didn't go in there at all. Most of Sydney's entries came after Freo had decided that they would have a well deserved 40 minutes of rest. At that stage, Sydney were just so shell-shocked that they lost all semblance of a game plan. To their credit, in the last 15 minutes they started to hit up a few forward 50 targets (although, partly that was just Freo letting them).

Having said all that, all this nonsense about being better without Tippett was exactly that, nonsense. Sure, against witches hats (Carlton) it's probably easier just running the ball into an open goal with midfielders, but when the pressure is on you need to have some chance of making something out of scrappy entries into your forward 50. And your best chance of doing that is by having a quality full-forward.

Thread title wins the Bay.

Thread still valid.
Sydney still useless without COLA.
Sydney's attack without Tippett & Buddy still about as potent as an imaginary spear

Hilarious !:D
It's the game plan they stole from us
Or maybe it was in the Curts contract under the "kick it to me" clause
