Does anyone know whether or not Wendell Sailor is actually playing for Queensland?

It was a piss take, publicity stunt all in good fun. Heat have a 14th contract lodged but are waiting for approval

justin langer - batting coach of aus team. got the job because...by all reports he's "a good bloke"
matthew hayden - board member on ca and qld board....got the position because....?

I urge you to read or listen to Kumar Sangakara's Cowdery lecture at the MCC recently.

To paraphrase Sri Lankan Cricket was at its zenith in 1996 when the rolled us to win the world cup. At that time it was run by volunteer administrators whose sole interest was the development and promotion of the game. Since that time it's all been downhill. Greed, politics and self interest have taken over and the game has suffered.

Does it sound familiar?

Tim Nielsen is the exception but Langer and Hayden have a proven track record and weren't the golden childs of cricket. I don't see why a player who has just finished his career would have to go and mellow out and then come back in 10 or 15 years? AFL as an example.

Hayden is giving up those positions to play regardless, his work ethic and ability is unquestionable. While I don't agree with his views on test cricket regarding the lesser nations, what person should be in his spot?

Very well said by Sangakkara. Dollars are the primary objective although I am a fan of Lorgat at the moment with the ICC who is doing some good things.

I tend to think that Lorgat is a snake oil salesman who was put in by the ICC to replace Mal Speed who was calling the ZCU to account and specifically Mugabe cronies for the systematic rorting of cricket in that country. BCCI were happy to rubber stamp him so he got in.

I don't trust the man.

You would expect South Africa to support to support Zimbabwe though.

I think he has done some very good things primarily around Test cricket and the introduction of the Test Championships, ODI Leagues etc. which if they turn out as he has planned will be good. Seems very passionate about Test cricket which we need.
