Kasper in for Dizzy...too many changes would destabalize an already shaky team, especially if you throw an uncapped fast bowler player into a pressure cooker game like the upcoming ashes test

Who gives a ******** about his action and pace, England would be facing Harmo and flintoff, and Tremlet in the nets every day, as if some hick from adelaide with a dodgey action will worry them.

Thanks for Matthew Elliot you ********-witt.

The australian selectors are traditionally extremely conservative. They are unlikely to take a chance on Tait now, although I reckon they should. If they change the team it would be Kaspa in for Dizzy, or maybe even Macgill if it looks like turning

On the point of swing can be hard to get and otherwise you are a medium pace hack? Geez, I dont remember the great Flemo ever struggling for swing. A good swing bowler can extract swing from a ball any time
I do.

The times I saw him play for SA (not many) he was beginning to look pedestrian ala Dizzy ATM and didn't seem to be doing much with the ball.

Taits action is nearly perfect for reverse swing and he's extremely capable. He can bowl big inswingers with the old ball, and got many of his wickets bowled and LBW last year with fast inswingers (reverse swing). Kaspa is so easy to read - always going away from the lefty and in to the right hander.

He also had his problems in the Test side – that pretty much why you don’t see many swing bowlers. At least if a ball isn’t swinging the bowler can deceive the batsmen with the flight of the ball, swing bowlers who lose the swing just put the ball on the pitch ala Dizzy in the last two tests. You may not be a hack but the conditions that England had in the last test won’t be replicated too often in Test cricket so you wouldn’t pick a swing bowler just in case – that’s why tait has an advantage because he is capable of bowling it if the conditions suit.

Tait + Lee = Lots of runs for England im afraid

It isn't as if England are really canning us so far:

Innings Runs (Highest to Lowest)
444
407
280/6d
182
180
155

Only 3 off those would classify as passing scores and in previous series many other teams have scored 400+ innings against us... it is just Australia's batting is normal so dominant that if they scored 400 we would score 600.

Lee is improving in his line and control as he gets older so will leak less runs.

If Tait and Lee play (which I think they should to give a young bowler who will stay in the team for years to come an introduction) then Ponting MUST use a 3rd Man to stop the hammoraging of runs through the slips. Force England to score elsewhere by playing shots down the ground driving and induce the edges.

i think Gillespie is going to get the chop.

I don't know what's wrong with him but i'd suggest hes carrying an injury and is tryign to play through to hold on to his spot.

Expect too see him bounce back during the summer.

But for the time being he has to be rested because he's performances haev been totally detrimental to the team.

good decision by the selectors for once. Good to see he roughed up Langer. He definately deserved a good going over after his ridiculous backing of Kasper.

yeh funny reading about Taity roughing up Langer... All in good fun.

I must admit ive been down to the Adelaide Oval nets and stood behind a batsman facing Tait and It is absolutely terrifying.. I rekn he bowls about 5 k quicker than Lee - and let me tell you if that ball swings he can do a lot of damage to any batting lineup in World Cricket.

Done same mate, behind nets to all bowlers from the Aussie side, Lee and tait clearly quickest. Tait prolly has a couple of km on Lee on average, tho Lee's very quickest is prolly 2-3km quicker than Taits....but all in all pretty sharp.

Read somewhere that tait was bowling 145 at 17yo....not bad. Henriques was bowling 140 at 16...wonder where he is atm.

Thats nothing.

I was spitting out 150kph before I could barely walk.

Note - Facts may be distorted!

it reminds me of this game i always play when i get time with my brother or mates. if you have a tennis court, rather than bowling u get ur tennis racket and serve. Let me tell u with a tennis ball even thats a bit scary. I rekn it would down at around 170 k.. i shudder to think facing a crciket ball at such speeds

I know a bloke who was last year clocked at 148km. He was only 17 then.
