Daniel Motlop has talent - what a revelation! Means nothing when you don't apply it consistently. Where's Motlop in big games or real pressure situations? His four possessions in last year's GF (a game low) positively bristled with talent.
Don't give us that rubbish, where were your players for the WHOLE finals series? (not that it matter that you went missing, the shinboner spirit is still there)
I seem to remember Motlop kicking a goal (from his famous "choke" spot) late in Saturdays game to put us only a goal behind.

You're just basing all this off his famous "choke" against Freo, when in reality the problem was at the time he wasn't at Port long enough for us to de-Kangaroo his kicking. Look at him now. Leading goal kicker.

It appears you're underrating his choke against the Saints a couple of years back. Credit where credit's due, please.

Can you list the big games/situations when Daniel Motlop has really lived up to his 'talent'?

Always the best medicine, especially when your one of the clubs thats just "making up the numbers" atm. ;)

I'd rather make up numbers in the #8 then be the sacrificial lamb on the last Saturday in September only to follow that by 'making up the numbers' in the bottom 4

You mean like half your list?

The prospect of unleashing Nathan Lonie on the Crows this week must have you giddy with excitement.

Like i said, the de-kangaroo process was just getting started.

His goal to win us the game against Freo wasn't bad. And as i mentioned earlier he didn't look too worried kicking that goal from the "choke spot" against you guys.

Sorry, I thought I said big games e.g. finals or games with finals-like consequences and atmosphere. Although it could be argued that Saturday night's game had some serious consequences (we snuffed out your miniscule chance of making the 8), I hardly think a regulation set-shot goal from about 30 metres out on a reasonable angle is compelling evidence of Motlop's greatness.

Bottom line is that he's lazy and selfish and has the overwhelming propensity to go missing when the heat is at it's highest. All in all, he's in good company at Port.

Sorry, we don't play a nail-biting final every week in which Motlop has a kick on the siren from 50 meters out, so it's very hard for him to prove you wrong. How many players on your list have won finals with the last kick of the day? Is it fair to call every player that hasn't a hack that goes missing when the pressures on?

When Mots is on, he does tend to hog the ball a bit, he's not lazy though.

Nice to see a bit of the ol' shinboner spirit in this thread boys, keep it up.:thumbsu:

You're missing the point completely. What I want to know is how many big games has Motlop played good football over four quarters, not just flashed into the game and did something that looks good? I suspect the reason why you keep dodging this question is because the answer is that he hasn't done so.

Really good footballers earn their reputations by consistently playing good football in big games, not by getting on the highlights reel every few weeks. I would suggest that while Motlop undoubtedly has talent, he has yet to perform at a level where he'll be remembered for anything other than having the ability to do something freakish every now and then.

Of course, he won't have the opportunity to change this perception in the short term as your boys won't be having a run this September.

Isn't that a black white and teal sticker on the silver car ? How about that for a quote?
It was a NAB cup match between Port and the carparkers. I hope the Port driver did the honourable thing and burnt some rubber in the car park on his/ her way out. :thumbsu:

Is this fool serious:confused::confused: After losing the game off his own boot, wimping out of facing the media why bother to mention this. Karma got this Claytons Captain. 16th out of 16

After his training 5 out of five, he bowed for the cameras.

Plenty.

Wish Tredrea took a bow after missing the shot for the game ; and that Chad could have done his little knees-up dance when he gave away a brain-snap 50 to gift a goal to Hale. Also costly in the context fo the match! :p

Yeah Hale was too classy to do the goose step that the arrogant chad did last year. Karma Chad.
