There has been much talk about how passionate and level headed Setanta is. Many posters putting his attitude up as a big plus for the club. This season we also witnessed improvements in the attitudes of a few players and the resultant performance results. Scotland, Fev and Lance being amongst this group in addition to Kouta's last month or so.

My point is that these players had the same talent previously but their better attitudes brought the best out of this talent. There has been much discussion about if Carlton have a talented list and also if we are getting the most out of our list. Thought I would name 18 players who I believe would be close to regulars next year and rank them both on talent and attitude.

From this list the top 10 in talent in my opinion are Fev, Lance, Kouta, Houla,Murphy,Walker, Scotland, Stevens, Lappin and Simpson. Waite and Thornton the next best.

On attitude I had Murph as best followed by Setanta,Thornton, Simpson, Scotland,Blackwell, Whitnall,Betts, Koutoufides and Fevola. Wasn't sure yet about Kennedy and Bower. Stevens, Bryan and Houlihan being the bottom 3.

Overall the list didnt look too bad and if some players especially Ryan and Nick could find more committment the side could be very compeditive next year. With Murph and Simpson being young, highly talented and high on attitude we at least have 2 good future leaders. Setanta also looks like his stocks talent wise are going to rise greatly.

I take what your saying as a very important part of building a great side that works together.

But lets not forget that Sh-t runs downhill. All the utter crap that has been happening with running the club over the past few years has been a disgrace. If a club is infested with incompetency at the top of the hierarchy, then it will trickle down to the coach, the assistants and the players.

It would be hard to play your heart out for a team that is such a poorly run laughing stock. Imagine the feeling of going into the club after another week of negative press and successive losses. Much like a morgue id believe.

For our club to go forward, we need to get our act together and provide a proffessional working environment. Otherwise all the people who are employed to run the club will be unhappy and it will show through on all levels.

You look at those players there is no way we should be on the bottom winning 7 games in 2 years. Something is badly wrong.

Definitely agree Fiery. However it still highlights the varying degrees of pressure threshold that players can handle. I believe with less pressure from above that all players will have more passion. This doesn't change the observation that some players on our list give in earlier than others though. Even when the heirarchy is sorted out there will still be other game day pressures that will arise. eg; Strong opposition, taggers, tight games ect. Will the Stevens and Houlihans stand up regularly in the state of minds they are now in even in a better environment?
