Credit to Mr Meow, it's genuinely so sad that people would rather the horrific scenario of a woman being r*ped so they have an opportunity to pointscore on a football club they hate, than have the situation we've got where Tanner is an innocent man.

I get tribalism. I really do. It's why this forum exists, but f*ck me, there's a line you just cannot cross if you want to be seen as a decent human being.

Some people just cannot take their scarves off, and it's Richmond fans more than anybody. It's abhorrent.

Correct. But old as Adam people taking sides and making judgements, refusing to budge their opinions.
What's insane is the number of posters who say, oh, that doesn't prove he's innocent.
He's not going to get that chance, because effectively, and proven, he has no case to answer.
Just what more can the defence do? The DPP knew it was a sham.

There's no palatable outcome here.

1. Tanner is guilty and now a victim doesn't get the justice deserved.
2. He's innocent and there's someone out there lying which has interrupted his career and left him tarred in many minds.

What they're saying is the only people giving any credence to your No 1 is other team supporters.
When an accuser is shown to be caught in a tangled web of mistruths, No 2 is the 100% probability.
As was shown, and I'd be surprised if he continues to be maligned by anyone with
a modicum of decency and common sense.

Of course there isn't. That's not the point.

The point was a commentary on the behaviour of people on this site, and the football community as a whole.

A vocal minority who would rather the scenario where an innocent woman is the victim of a horrific act, than have the scenario where Bruhn is deemed to have no case to answer for.

Why? All because they hate a football club, and want to have an excuse to 'banter' about it in their social circles.

It's mind-numbingly dumb, and truely cruel behaviour. These are people, not action figures for our entertainment.

Just back from the main board. Need a wash.
The dark side of human nature, prejudice and the investment in an alternative reality, disappoints me.
A lot.
To be totally fair, it's really only a few posters who have a very long and very open obsession with Geelong, who are jerking themselves about him being guilty.

Quite a lot of neutrals are pretty supportive and happy for the saga to move on.

The unfortunate reality is that it doesn't prove he's innocent. He may be innocent, he may be guilty, he may be somewhere in the murky middle as such - but the key is that both parties involved need to, from here on in, be treated as innocent.

To prove him to be innocent without a doubt would involve then establishing that the alleged victim lied in order to extort him, which is a vastly larger burden of proof than that required to simply drop the case.

IMO the most reasonable angle here is to sit on the fence and accept that we don't know anything for sure, and never really have, and that therefore both parties should be able to continue their lives without prejudice. Humanity is usually pretty bad at this - we suck at non-definite outcomes.

Well it just goes to show how far this ****ed up society of offense and outrage has stooped to. And yet we keep recycling the same shit "leadership" who don't show us any way out just the way to get deeper in.

As for social media posts like BF, well the mods really need to step up and stop this shit rather than tacitly encourage the side(s) of politics they prefer. It all all over here sadly. If you have lived in remote Oz as I have, and others here have, you will quickly see none of this shit matters one little bit when reality smacks you firmly in the face over and over again.

Tanner is going to cop crap on this for the rest of his life, whatever the real situation was, and the real crime goes unpunished one way or another.

Hey, did Mr. Bruhn attend the best and fairest? I’m just wondering what the club plans to do in the future (do they trade him or play him as the case has been dropped). It’s a pretty yuck situation for all involved. Edit (only two people know what really happened so I’m not getting drawn into speculation).

Hardly trade, they've tacitly supported him all year, how's that going to look.
He'll have to fight for his position like everyone else, so business as usual.

We will see. I'm expecting this to potentially end up in civil court
so by that you mean you have info that the legal system does not - or are you suggesting that you have info that now that the criminal case has been "dismissed" that there is a civil component to play out in the courts.

If its civil the outcomes can be protracted but less binding in terms of player not playing in that period no?

eg being - car crash victims found not guilty of criminal charges but victim sues driver for medical costs and damages.

Sorry if I’ve got the wrong person, but didn’t you say something in the past like “wait until you find out the age of the person”

Well with the evidence shown it’s nothing to do with age, so not sure your “mail” is worth listening to if you were the one who said that

Now that the charges have been dropped, it would be inappropriate for him to be treated any differently to any other player.

I don't think any other club will take him on at the moment, FWIW.

Was he allowed to do any training this year?

There's been photos and videos of him in main group, team training going back to May - about the time he's named dropped off the injury list which last showed him as "unavailable"

Bruhn has been back involved since around the mid season point. Still tight with the playing group and spotted more recently at most club events. Club was resolute with the AFL that he should be allowed to remain the football program until such time as the matter was resolved - one way or the other.

The club has supported him privately and have no intention of trading him. There'll be some tough times winning a few peoples trust back but once the charges are formally dropped, should be back into the daily routine of a contracted player and probably have a bit to prove day one of pre-season.
