If there was no video evidence how can anybody here comment?

Where you there and did you see it clearly?

I wasnt - I havnt seen it - therefore I have no opinion.

Moomba is right - Players credibility in all tribinal cases is ZERO.

Im suprised at all the outrage considering nobody actually saw the incident.

At least with the Matera one - we all could clearly see the incident. This one, we cant.

For the last 100 years, the word of the player is used by the tribunal when making their decision. For the first ever (exaggeration? Maybe!) time that the umpire's word is used over that of 10 players, and it's a Collingwood player who gets suspended. Surprise surprise.

Absolute crap.

Not for the first time the tribunal chose to believe an umpire over two players who may or may not have been colluding.

and it's a Collingwood player who gets suspended. Surprise surprise.

And it's Collingwood supporters who are squealing. Surprise surprise.

Absolutely!! If the AFL Tribunal were to undermine the opinion of the umpire in question, the credibility of the AFL and their judicial system would be out the window.

The AFL players are unionists, and unions stick together against their respective employers. The AFL Tribunal must go with the testimony of the umpire ... and in this case ... the umpire was 'certain' of what he saw.

All you ask is for consistency.

This case was not based on it merits, it was based on making a statement regarding the tribunal's past two weeks.

-Tarrant has never been suspended for.

-No video footage

-Mark Graham was not concussed and said there was nothing in it.

The object of the result is to prove beyond reasonable doubt. There is far too much doubt in this decision.

Im sorry,
I fail to understand...

Lockyer is out cold and stretechered off due to Matera.
Matera is cleared due to lack of video evidence!

And Tarrant is given 2 weeks with NO video evidence....

WHAT THE?!?!??!?!

No it isn't. The tribunal is nota court and is not bound by the same standards.

Toppy and Dave,
as much as you say 'want a tissue' and crap like that, if it happened to your key forward (being Matty), in exactly the same incident, with the same features involved, you would be hitting the f*cking roof too and don't you deny it.

Yes, I will deny it. If there is no video evidence the tribunal always takes the umps word over players.

Would I be pissed? Yes, but at the player, not the tribunal .

Yes, but we wouldnt say stuff like "Essendon are officially the AFL's lovechilds."

Yes, I saw the whole thing through binoculars. 2 weeks was a light get-off IMHO. I predicted 3 weeks when we left the game Saturday arvo.

Doesn't matter, we don't need him. He never puts in 2 good games in a row anyway, and we only have Essenscum this week. REDEMPTION DAY.

Lloyd very stupidly headbutted Gaspar,we copped it sweet. It nearly cost us the next week v hawthorn. The boy is stiff being his first time up,maybe one would have been better.
And coventryhard, look at Essendon`s tribunal record over the last 3-4 years, not many have got off.
You want Essendon bad,I can taste it.

That's ok ;)

Which the AFL have pretty much conceded was a **** up by "firing" Rick Lewis.

And Tarrant is given 2 weeks with NO video evidence....

If there is NO video evidence, who are you going to believe, the impartial observer or two players who have a vested interest in not getting one of them suspended?

It's not like it's the first time it's happened.

NTPM ... we had our full-forward berrated in the media and by Wayne Jackson before a report was even laid! So don't talk to me about Tarrant being hard done by when our full-forward was guilty before being charged in last year's finals.

If this case went to court the result would not stand up. It all depends on how far they want to take it and I doubt Eddie will cop it on the chin and get on with it.

Coming from an Essendon supporter, that's a bit rich. Whenever something happens to the 'lovechilds mkII' all u hear for weeks on end is bleeting, crying, bitching, moaning, and just plain non-stop sooking from bloody Essendon. Yes I remember Anzac Day 1996, were still whinging about the Umpiring in 1998. Every bombers player that gets suspended, Sheedy's out there crying, as calls of 'martians' can be heard echoing around Windy Hill. We (Collingwood) DON'T make enough noise, that's gotta stop. Essendon and Sheedy have proven that the squeaky wheels get oiled first.

Anthony Rocca in 2000 Spidey, ur right, also Scotty Burns in 1997, now this year another one. All conveniently just before Anzac Day. As I said, the squeaky wheels get oiled first...

Welcome to the Other Side, Pies fans. Now you know how it feels to be screwed by the AFL and the tribunal.

Enjoy your stay!

How come Matera gets off when the video evidence is clear and conclusive as opposed to Tarrant who has no video evidence?

Collingwood will appeal.
