Im getting my 1st tat in the next couple of days. I also intend on getting the fitzroy lion somewhere aswell.

and chicks with tattoos.......i guess it depends on what it is, where it is and who its on but overall they are a bit turn on for me.

^Your response to dub's post made me think that you consider it to feel good to fit in with the majority seeing as you assumed he has one, even though you (and him) don't.

If having a tat for 18-21 year olds is the major trend nowadays, I see no reason to feel bad man if you don't have one or don't want to get one. If anyone can post a legitimate reason as to why it is a negative thing to not have a tattoo, then by all means go for it.

Only an immature person would feel uncomfortable for not fitting into the majority despite doing nothing wrong, but then again, such a character trait is higher amongst the young so it is expected.

Genuine question for people that find tatts on the opposite sex attractive - What proportion do you owe to physical attraction (look of tatt on that part of the body) and mental attraction (reason/symbolism of the tatt)?

Pretty simple - if the boys hot - the tatt will look hot (unless its something super girly). Though it is nice when the tatt actually has some significance and isn't just a "it looked cool and everyone else was doing it" kinda thing, but thats more to do with respect than attractiveness...

As lovely said, its pretty simple. If it looks good, I reckon it looks pretty hot. I like the rose going up my girlfriends ribs, but the bitch wont finish colouring it :( didnt like the pain.:p
As I mentioned earlier, for mmself getting a tattoo there would have to be something good, or something I can think of I would like, but in the opposite sex I dont care about their reasons. If it looks good, it looks good.

I (incorrectly) assumed he had one based on his comment. I was just pointing out that I don't have one. Nothing to do with fitting it or not fitting in for the sake of it.
 
I know a bloke who got the name of his deceased pet kitten on one of his shins. The cat didn't go feral but the owner did.

I have three. A tiger walking in bamboo on my left upper arm. The head starts at my elbow and the tail curls around my shoulder. I have a Mustang(Bomber) on my right upper arm and a bulldog on my right shoulder blade.
 
I heard tatts are the new way for gay guys to show they are gay. Once upon a time it was earings in the right ear, or hankerchiefs in certain pockets. Now it's tatts.

Tribal tatt = pitcher
Non tribal tatt = catcher

People can be very sensitive about the indelible ink they have chosen to put on their skin.

The other day, I was walking past a dude and a girl in their early 20s who were smoking cigarettes. They simultaneously smother and litter their cigarette butts on the ground.

I look at the bloke in disgust and tell him there are many bins nearby. He shrugs his shoulders, looks away and smugly implies he is unaware of the fact. I accuse him of being an ignoramus before telling him he has a "nice tatt". With the latter dig, I hit the bell on the high striker. He suddenly makes eye contact with me and displays an anger-filled facial expression before blurting out an incomprehensible remark.

I lol'd.

Males who have tattoos yet denounce tattoos on women are being very hypocritical. Gender specification mustn't be used. Denounce the freaking lot of it or put up with women looking like skanks.
 
some funny anecdotes i have heard from people with tattoos:

1.

me: "...you have a tattoo on your back'
person with tattoo: 'yeh, so i dont have to f@&^king look at it'

2.

me: 'you have a tattoo written on you in chinese characters'
a different person with a tattoo- 'yep'
me: 'do you know what it means?'
person with tattoo: 'F@#^ked if i know" :)
