What is the story with Taylor Walker? Why is he not in the side? Is he injured or just omitted? has he been playing in the SANFL?

Four key reasons for Taylor's non selection

1. Training form - he needs to beat Burton's 3km time trial record
2. Defensive pressure - needs to learn how to stand there like a witches hat
3. Forward Structure - needs to learn how to get in Tippett's way
4. Game Plan - our goal per game average needs to drop from 10 to 6 goals per game

The Burton fans and those posters that always toe the company line will try and present valid reasons for Walker's non selection however this issue is one of the most Bizzare decisions that I have come across in footy

1. Since Modra or club has been crying out for key forwards
2. Our avaerge score per game is woeful
3. Our ability to convert inside 50's is poor
4. we a 1-7 win / loss ratio
5. Birdman is sorely out of form
6. Craigy admits that Tex is a talent
7. Each week we hear a different excuse for his non selection, week 1 it was purely match ups and then Henderson got injured, than it was continuity

Maybe the true reason is that Craigy and Birdman have some joint investment opportunities - oops ;)

Thanks for the help guys. I know he has the ability to kick bags fo goals but over here in Vic we dont much news about him. Hopefully he will be back in the side soon now the crows have "turned the corner"

As you can tell by the above posts the failure to include him in the side has caused so much frustration that we are forced into making sarcastic comments and jokes about it.

To be fair, whilst he has played well, he hasn't dominated an SANFL game this season enough yet to demand his selection.

First of all let me say sorry for the shoking answers you got,Fair question and sarcy answers.

His decision making is not up to AFL yet the melb game is the best example of that and his work rate is not up to AFL standard yet.

I think he will make the team this year but he is a fair way off

as predicted

"The Burton fans and those posters that always toe the company line will try and present valid reasons for Walker's non selection" ;)

whereas the Walker fans will prevent valid conspiracy theories for his non-selection

did we really need another thread?

The problem with this is, in all of the areas Walker is supposedly deficient (and some are valid), Burton is currently worse.

No argument here and i guess Craigy wants him to learn the tricks of the trade out of the spotlight.

Looks like hes in good hands out at the Parade to so it will happen

No need to toe company lines when we are dealing with cold hard unavoidable facts.

the unavoidable facts are

1. NC has never stated work rate as the reason for Taylor's ommission, he has stated match ups as his initial reason for ommission against the WB, the fact that he was close but couldn't fit him into the side against the Power and the need for continuity as the reason for his continue non selection at Richmond.
2. Burton offers no more defensively to the team than what Walker does
3. Burton is sorely out of form, 3 goals from the past 4 matches is not good enough for a senior player
4. As a side we are ranked in the bottom 2 for points per game which indicates that we need more scoring power
5. As a side we a rankd dead stone cold last for inside 50m conversions
6. we are 1-7 win / loss ratio

do the maths :o

Mate you can spin or window dress this as much as you like, however I personally am not bias to either Burton or Walker, however the non selection of Walker based on the listed unavoidable facts is at the very least Bizzare

What is the story with Taylor Walker?

It's a long one. Just read any of the various "changes next week" or "team vs X" threads for details. :o

Why is he not in the side?

Official answer: he's pushing for selection, but needs to work on some areas of his game, such as attack on the ball and second efforts.

He's a huge talent, as almost everyone agrees. What nobody seems to agree upon is how to best bring him into the side permanently. :(

I'm in the "Would like to see more second efforts, but ffs bring him in for four games, at FF, to prove himself. Now!" camp.

Is he injured or just omitted?

I think "just" omitted probably sells it short by a good margin.

Has he been playing in the SANFL?

Yep, playing for Norwood Redlegs. Not cutting a huge swathe, but his impact for them is noticable, as far as I can tell from the Crows in the SANFL threads. Apparently you can probably catch a little SANFL using ABC iView. (Yay!!)

lets be clear

the official reason provided for his ommission prior to the WB game was not because he needed to work on areas of his game, Craigy said it was due to Match ups in particularly the speed of the WB

Then against the Power the official statement was that the club just couldn't fit him in the side, hmmm I would have thought Henderson (Out inj) and Walker in is pretty much a like for like swap

Last week the new spin was continuity even though during the last two Post match conferneces Craigy admitted that his players "did not want the ball", if there is a work rate issue with Tex well he is not the only one

What will be the new spin this week, I assume NC will recycle the "just can't fit him in the side" excuse

Dont panic.

Walker will be in the side tonite while Burton is omitted back to the SANFL to correct the fact that he leans back when he kicks and has trouble not only with distance, but accuracy.

God knows the AFC coaching staff cant change this:rolleyes: perhaps the Eagles will.
