Not too fussed on whether we advance or not, we did the rounds in the challenge system last year and it didn't seem to hurt. With that said, NAB Cup or not I'd rather we didn't lose to Carlton.

Not sure on where Rounds is at with his recovery, I recall hearing that he wasn't to resume full training until February? He might not be ready for any sort of hit-out yet, but he was probably the first player I wanted to get a look at amongst the senior squad.

We'll definitely be seeing Krakouer and Tarrant, as Nathan Brown won't be available and I imagine the club would be keen on getting these two more acclimatised within the senior squad.

Would like to see Wood given an opportunity and Fasolo seems fairly ready made and could get a gig. Hard to say how we'll line up just yet, but it'll be good to see the boys back in action, even in this lightning format.

I'd like to see a couple of wins because our games will be shown on TV, but really I just want to see some kids play and players who need resting get rested. Treat it as what it is, practice for the proper season. If we get knocked out I don't mind, just keep developing and preparing the squad.

I hate the NAB Cup. Biggest piece of overrated time-consuming crap in the sport. I don't want to get rid of it because of the history attached to it but it gets shoved down our throats so much you would htink it's as important as the real thing.

When will the Sides Come Out?
I'd say Thursday as usual, can't see why there would be a change to the naming of the teams "time" just because it's a Nab Cup round.

I'm hoping we win both our matches and qualify for the next week at least, as it means we will be playing on quality grounds for at least the first 2 rounds, and because we play in the first "half" of matches, we get a weekends break in between each match.

If we are anywhere near serious, we win both these games easily, I mean Carlton without Judd and a few others and Richmond (well it doesn't matter what team they pick), well, they are Richmond.

I'd like to see a decent sized win over the Tigers, followed by a close win over Carlton in what could be the deciding match of the night if the Blues also beat the Tigers in their first matchup.

My tips for this weekend to qualify for the next round;

Pies
Crows (hardest pool to tip)
WCE (Hawthorn and Freo playing mainly kids)

:)

1. The Etihad surface at this time of the year is actually very good. Victory don't play there much anymore and when it gets summer sun you dont have to worry about it being sand dune city.

2. I too don't care about the result, however, a good start would send a strong message we aren't about to have a Premiership hangover. People talk about being "the hunted" but there is the fear factor playing the Premiers too and we need to use this. We will be fit and ready though.

3. I'm keen to see the Taz and Reid backline combo - looks the most agile pairing we have had in ages! Plus plenty of midfield minutes for Beams, Sidey, Krak and Blair. Sone new faces up forward would be good too as I think we lack options a little here.

Agree with others in that I don't care about the result, the quality of the opposition (or lack thereof) means we should progress but I wouldn't mind if we just played kids and didn't win.

With that said all focus should be on gearing for the real stuff so I hope everyone gets a good hit out. I expect so see the likes of Blair, Beams and Sidey playing much more midfield time while the more senior guys are rested or played in the foward line. Hope Beams has a blinder pre-season and is tearing at the bit for the real stuff.

I just want to see the recruits out there. Would be happy to see Krak, Tarrant, Rounds and even maybe Fasolo/Keefe out there!

Keen to see Andy Krak like most Pies fans would be at this point.

Also, keen to see how guys like Rounds and Keefe go if their given a chance, and see if Wood has improved at all.
