Pet owners have been warned to keep their animals under control after two dogs were killed by a territorial swan in a park lake.

Mansfield District Council said a dog was drowned last week by a cob while playing in the Carrs park in Warsop, Nottinghamshire.

The the swan felt threatened after the dog dived into the pond and attacked the animal to protect his family.

This is true. I see the wharfies scream with fear every time a swan lands in the water in front of them down at the Freo docks and run for their lives.

They run, pick up their anchors, and then start swinging them around. That'll show them swans.

About the demons/saints thing....there was a study done somewhere over teams with generally demonic names and their performance over history, as compared to teams with positive biblical names. In almost every case, the teams with "bad" names were successful and the "good" names weren't.

Melbourne Demons - 12 premierships
New Jersey Devils - 3 Stanley Cups in 25 years of existence
University of Duke Blue Devils - collegiate basketball powerhouse

Los Angeles/California/Anaheim Angels: 1 championship in 46 seasons, history of playoff chokes, pitcher famously committed suicide after blowing a playoff game

New Orleans Saints: 0 championships in 40 years of existence, only one postseason victory in entire history. Hurricane Katrina.

So me and my mates are drunk, and really bored, we decided to rank all the AFL teams, in terms of their mascot, or logo or whatever


Demons
Power
Bombers
Lions
Tigers
Kangaroos
Bulldogs
Eagles
Hawks
Cats
Magpies
Crows
Dockers
Swans
Saints
Blues


is what we came up with. We figured a demon would be unbeatable, electricity can kill all the rest, bombers would bomb the rest etc. (i dont even know if tha tmakes sense)

So yeh, this is the ladder we came up wtih, and we noticed something

Looking at all the teams, and their position on the ladder, MOST teams are 3 places within where they have been in the past 5 years or so. Some teams, maybe 4 spots. ie. Melbourne have been in or around the top 4, port, essendon etc. for the most part of the past few years. Particularly 01-03ish.

Carlton, Dockers, Saint kilda etc. were all languishing at the bottom mostly.

It all fits in and makes sense - Get a tougher logo (port have now shotgunned GOD Logo), and your team will play better footy and win more

Dockers have a reputation for not doing much. Saints don't work miracles, God does, and besides, nice guys finish last. Agree that a Bulldog wouldn't stand a chance against a Roo. A lightning bolt would fix a demon so.... Port finish top!
