There is no pleasing everyone, but this is the Combo I'd like to see Saturday:

B: Hayden, Grover, Dodd

HB: Campbell, Mi. Johnson, Drum

C: Ibbotson, Peake, Gilmore

HF: Bell, Pavlich, Headland

F: Farmer, McPharlin, Mundy

R: J.Carr, Sandilands, Schammer

INT: Crowley, Mcmanus, Palmer, Warnock, Mcmanus

OUT: Tarrant, M.Carr, Ma.Johnson, Black [inj.]

Nothing too wholesale, but believe Taz needs the WAFL to appreciate what he has in the AFL. He finished last season badly, and showed nothing on the weekend. A week in the WAFL with good form may get his MOJO back. Macca stays, kicked 2 goals[ thats 2 more than Taz] and his defensive game is good, will be better at home among his fans.
Ibbo and Drum deserve their chance, and Palmer has an opportunity to live up to the hype. Would have preffered O'brien or Foster, but another week in the Magoos to prove their fitness and they're ready to go. Carr and Johnson [Mark] need a good stint in the Wafl until someone is injured, but there is a big list before them.

Peake in the centre? he didn't look great on the w/e and neither did schammer in 2nd half, also sandilands ruck roving??

There is much wrong with that team, McManus in it (twice!?) for starters.

Speed mate. we need it. They don't come up to scratch this week, they're looking shaky. Like I said , I would like to see Foster and O'brien get a go, but just another week to be ready.
We're playing at Subi and that may make a difference to Scham and Peake, if it doesn't ,A-hole them.
Crowls is only there because Solomon looks like being out for a week.

Campbell is a HBF? o....k...

Gotta put him somewhere until McPharlin needs to go down back. Suit yourself where you wanna put him, forward , back, he's in the team.
Any better suggestions??

Foster has a back issue and hasn't played a game for weeks...O'Brien has just come back for Peel

BTW, anyone know how he went on the weekend?

Then why have you brought in 3 talls if we lack run? Warnie has to play but there is no room for Drum and certainly no room for Campbell because dropping midfielders, even slow ones, for key position players doesn't address our issues.

Campbell, Murphy and Bradley only get a game in 2008 if Pavlich or Tarrant get injured/dropped/suspended or if Pav moves into the middle.

Drum only gets a game in 2008 if his form is better than McPharlin, Grover, Mundy, Dodd, Gilmore or Michael Johnson, or if one of those guys get injred/suspended.

O'Brien had no pre-season, he needs atleast 2 more games in the WAFL. Foster is yet to play at all in 2008, we won't see him before round 6 or 7. How can you drop guys for one bad game but bring in guys who aren't even match fit? It's suggesting change for the sake of change.

Ma Johnson was alot better than McManus so id keep him. Against Hawks id keep Tarrant but push him to a HFF let him use his assets(running and def pressure) and put McPharlin at FF. Okay ill put my team in then.

B: Hayden, Grover, Dodd

HB: Gilmore, Mi. Johnson, Drum

C: Mundy, Bell, Schammer

HF: Tarrant, Pavlich, Palmer

F: Farmer, McPharlin, Warnock

R: Sandilands, Headland, J Carr

INT: Crowley, Johnno, Ibbo, Peake

OUT: M.Carr, Mcmanus, Peake, Solly, Black

If Black is right to play he goes to HBF and Drum to the bench and Peake out.
If Solly gets off he can come in for Crowley and start in the FP with Johnno going to the bench.

Dont take Des off rest him at FF/FP as he is very dangerous in F50.
Farmer to have a few spells on the ball. If Dew lines up in there F50 put Drum on him and make sure he uses his legs to give him Dew something to think about as i think he will struggle at Subi plus they wont be doin it easy which should hurt his fittness levels.
Warnock and Sandi to rotate thro FP all day when Mcpharlin leads they drop into the square. With Palmer roaming the HF line he has the speed to swoop in on the crumbs.
Id look at giving Dodd a big job this week and have 1st crack at Franklin. He has the running power and speed to keep up. If it doesnt work then maybe Gilmore and if worst comes to worst Mcpharlin will have to go back to him. Grover needs to take there bigger forwards.
Just let Tarrant run all day between the 50's and watch him rack it up plus he has very good foot skills delivering into the 50.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Harvs said Black and Solly won't play. With Solly's bad record even with an early plea he gets one week.

Bring in Webster(31 poss in wafl) , Mayne , Warnock, and Ibbot. Take out Matt Carr and ????? maybe Mark Johnson.

We need a big Decoy Forward in Taz....I think they will play him in a different position soon.

Palmer got tackled far too many times in the preseason games .....

Also, in the Wafl game on the w/e he got tackled (with the ball) far too many times.....Maybe he needs to get his ears checked or cleaned. (I'm not joking, the wax can build up in there without knowing it)

So I think he needs to have a few games and some development coaching along the way..

Hayden Grover Drum
Mundy Mi Johnson Dodd
Peake J Carr Ibbotson
Bell Tarrant Crowley
Farmer Pavlich McPharlin

Sandilands Headland Schammer

Warnock, Palmer, Gilmore, M Carr

Out McManas, Ma Johnson, Black, Solly

I will give M Carr a game purely to try an take Hodge and/or Mitchell

Ma Johnson, despite doing a few decent things, he did nowhere near enough and I have given his spot to Ibbotson or Palmer.

Palmer is just getting used to the pace - we might as well have him at AFL level so he doesn't waste 5-6 games in the WAFL when he is good enough to be playing at AFL level.

The other thing is that he would be rated as one of the top playmakers at WAFL level based on last season and the opposition would be probably told to watch him. At AFL level he is less likely to recieve as much attention.

Normally i wouldn't agree with making such wholesale changes, but given Black and Solomons unavailability coupled with the need to introduce a bit of pace to cover the wide expanses of subi i thought this was the team which would matchup best against Hawthorn. I really think we can stretch their defence as they look a little short down there, especially with the absence of Croad which is why i included Campbell. Having said that their forwardline looks deadly with the inclusion of Williams.

Hope Dodd can limit Hodges impact as i fear we have no one else capable of doing so. :(

fingers crossed for freo in a tight one

I like that team a lot. maybe 1 runner short, swap Campbell for Palmer and its a winner!

As much as i hate it, Matt Carr wont get dropped.

team will be something like this IMO.

Hayden Grover Dodd
Mundy McPharlin Mi.Johnson
Peake Bell Ibbotson
Headland Pavlich Crowley
Farmer Tarrant Palmer

Sandilands J.Carr Schammer

Gilmore, Warnock, McManus, M.Carr

I would love to see Des at FF and Tarrant on a Flank.

Also would like to see Mayne, Drum, Campbell, Mourish, Foster, O'Brien, Dunn, Murphy etc in the team before Macca or Matt Carr this season but it wont happen.

You're right, but he needs to perform this week and next. With Black to come back in for the derby and Solomon back round 4 Matt Carr will need to be playing well to retain his spot over the next month.

For what it is worth

B: Hayden Grover Dodd
HB: Mi Johnson Tarrant Mundy
C: Gilmore McManus Ibbotson
HF: Bell Pavlich Palmer
F: Farmer McPharlin Murphy
R: Sandilands Headland JCarr
INT: Warnock Peake Schammer Crowley

I would have a word to Tarranmt and start him on Buddy Franklin. Put some responsiblitlity on him that Buddy needs to be stopped. If he can run and contest with Buddy for a half then questions about committment and workrate will be forgotten. If it fasils to work Mcpharlin can be swung back there, and Taz can be benched. No footballer today should be one dimensional - let him know that. We have enough talls to cover him should he be benched.

McManus to stay for me. I thought he did pretty well last week in the forward line, but with Solly out his hardness will be welcome at bounce down. not the best kick foward but from the bounce down all we want is the ball going forward.

Ibbo and Plamer to play. The Hawks threw Cirol Rioli into the game last week and he is class. Speed, youth, skillful, committed....hmmmmm why dont we have those? oh we do..... Palmer and Ibbo!!!

Some might say it is too ealry to try stuff like this, but if we dont it is going to be too late to start trying it.
