We badly missed Jude in the forward line structure yesterday.

Alleged forward line structure = put a blanket down at CHF, bomb it long to that spot all game.
That has been our approach for the past four weeks. When there is pressure on our mids we just kick and hope Tippett marks it - see bulldogs, pies, saints, dees.

Because we aren't winning it inside much and we aren't getting run from behind, and when we do mark it on the wing we hand pass to players who are running straight into the next defender our kicking has become just bang it to the spot.

Last week his spot was questioned

It all comes down to a few simple truths

1 we either arent good enough
2 we either arent good enough without goodes jetta reid lrt etf which is understandable
3 or we are just out of form

Thanks boys,

but the coach is a former forward, and he needs to deliver better than this unimaginative effort against the Cats. The team structure obviously wasn't working, but he let it go on all game.

Throw them around coach, what have you got to lose? Where are the free-wheeling multiple goal scorer Swans of the early season?

We need better from the coaches against the Hawks at ANZ, or we are dead ducks.

I think this harsh on Horse. O'Keefe went forward trying to drag Bartel back and to use his old Forward line marking skills. Bird dropped back to cover defense including on Johnson when he stayed deep (spectacular failure but he tried it) Lamb had a spell on the Half back line, also a failure but a tough ask.

What other changes would you like to have seen tried?

Maybe he should have thrown White into the middle and play him as a ruck rover?

Should we be worried about Mumford getting looked at by the MRP for the ruck contest that ended Vardy's game?
The umpire called it "unrealistic" jump at the ball, kneed him in the head made contact and Vardy broke his nose on landing and then subbed off.
Id argue it was "realistic" but Vardy changed his own jump at the ball but who knows?

An unrealistic jump... he was the only ruck man who jumped or the ball and if the umpire bounced the ball straight it would never have happened.

We should worry

Because its shane mumford, not because of any rule

Either all 3 or Horse is a genius and, knowing Rds 22/23 are essentially dead rubbers for us, has decided to lull our opponents into a false sense of superiority while keeping the real game plan hidden.

Oh Horse you devious and noble equine. A pox on all the neigh-sayers.

if thats the case they carried his orders out in full saturday, never seen such a great lulling

Lost the possession count by 87 and the tackles by 95-65, put 2&2 together guys, we never wanted to win this game after the hawks beat north.

And we wont want to win this weeks game either because,

loser of 1st versus 4th will avoid Collingwood most likely(in week 2),

and most likely play either tigers, carlton or north(who we would all prefer).

Plan would be to show nothing to the hawks this week, and then have a red hot crack against them a week later... Hoping to see a few rested Friday and seeing reidy or jetta get a game into them.

I agree, rest the boys and throw everything at the first final against the Hawks.

Sure, we have had some down performances, but everyone needs to remember that we've put ourselves into a position where one single win (against Hawks week 1) could put us right back on track.

Think we should rest a few players this week and bring in the likes or Reid, Jetta and possibly LRT.

We lose nothing by bringing players back into the team and testing them.

Lets go out try and play ourselves into a little bit of form and not worry about the result, next week is when the real action starts.

Well, lets have a think about wildcards that Horse can use for the final series

Reid and Jetta if they get in will be x factors

Move McVeigh and Bolton into the midfield for the silk and hardness respectively

He's been there a bit, but plonk Pyke in the square for 80% of the game and let Mummy do the hard work around the ground. Let Tippett drag a defender or two away from the Canadian

Go with legspeed to break the lines - Rohan, BJ, Cunningham, Jetta, Kizza, McGlynn. Just remembering a few passages of play in the 2012 granny where we ran as a pack and shuffled the handballs to running players, not feeding it backwards.

What else can we do to mix it up?

Reid backline, if in this week.

luke darcy thinks we are still a flag chance as resiliant and set up well in finals.

pity its luke darcy will probably go out in straight sets now

talk of massive changes structurally and to gameplan are interesting but unlikely especailly at sydney.

They arent going to move away from what they have done all year in round 23 heading into the finals.

The only possible changes to this side are wether they are in a position to take a punt on one or two of the injured players

I agree completely, but I am more just hoping that Horse has a secret plan to unleash in September, like a Mitch Morton 2012 or something
