One out of left field;

Harry O'brien to follow Adam Goodes for the whole match.

Harry seems to be a similar build and could just follow Goodes around for most of the match, coming off when Goodes does, going forward when he does, etc.

Plus it would be interesting to see another side to Harry's game.

we tried that once, the buckley return match in 07

harry was flogged, Goodes got 30 odd touches and kept them in the match for most of the night

I would prefer we didnt try that again

Yeah I remember that match, but Harry is 2 years older now, he was an inexperienced "colt" back then.

Plus, we have tried just about everyone else, and Goodes has still killed us over the years, although somehow we still seem to beat them.:p

against us goodes gets his possesions piss farting around in the back half

sideways non damaging stuff, I actually dont remember apart from harry who we have tried on him. Id say let him be get them the other way as we have the last 6 or 7 times

who cares about Goodes, the rest of their team is rubbish. We only have to turn up with a good attitude and we'll flog them. Sydney haven't beaten a top 8 side in 2 years, they're irrelevant

i agree. Steele hasn't been showing any bad signs yet, until then why mess with it??

As far as other selections go, i'm still not convinced with wood. the 3 goals in the VFL were not through skill, but rather he was too tall for the backs he was opposed to at the time. still lacking around the ground imo. not sold on a medhurst return yet either, but i think more likely than wood to return.

Hmmm..... So he stretched the defense and kicked 3 goals in a losing side with no skill?

If MM doesn't play Wood this weekend, we will lose!

Pendlebury on Goodes worked well in that game. He forced Goodes to be accountable, ran off him well and hurt him the other way.
this i like

Plus tag or at least man up shaw and malceski and we cut their drive

For mine thomas and lockyer get used alot, and pendlebury to go head to head with goodes

he was poor as a ruckman though

I remember that game with great fondness.
It was on the night of my brother-in-laws wedding reception at the Lennox Head bowling Club (northern NSW) and with the entire family being rampant Pies supporters, there was plenty of ducking out of the function room to get a glimpse of the scores.

"So you're a bloody Collingwood supporter" from one of the locals in the public bar ended in a dozen or so $10.00 bets on the result.

Oh the joy of victory in enemy territory....:D:D:D

i was at the game with the old man, and brother great game until a grizzled old sydney supporter got angry and started a fight (took umbrage at me calling goodes an umpires pet, i also said dont like it you can get nodded) so he hit me from behind. Needless to say that ended strangely lmao

But otherwise awesome match and a fight won lol

Like many others, I'd love to see Medhurst back in. He won the Brisbane game off his own boot. He's an AA. We need his class in the forward line. I'd also like to see Wood ruck the rest of the season starting this round.

This would be my team to take on Sydney ....

Collingwood

B: Harry O'Brien, Simon Prestigiacomo, Shannon Cox
HB: Nick Maxwell ©, Nathan Brown, Heath Shaw
C: Sharrod Wellingham, Scott Pendlebury, Leon Davis
HF: Tarkyn Lockyer, Travis Cloke, Dale Thomas
F: Alan Didak, John Anthony, Brad Dick
Foll: Josh Fraser, Dane Swan, Shane O'Bree
Int: Cameron Wood, Martin Clarke, Steele Sidebottom, Paul Medhurst

Em: Ben Reid, Alan Toovey, Tyson Goldsack

In: Cameron Wood & Paul Medhurst
Out: Leigh Brown & Alan Toovey

If Nathan Brown pulls up sore I would bring in Tyson Goldsack to play on his biatch - Michael O'Loughlin.

I would love to see beams back in, im not sure i would take sidey out tho.

Medhurst was not fit enough for mine, who knows he may get up come saturday.

Wood needs to play! He has shown that he is up to the level and i think he needs to play in the 1's to progress. He will learn alot more from rucking against jolly then he would some random VFL player.

I would also bring in reid if brown doesnt come up, i thought he had an outstanding game in the twos

Who do you think Brett Kirk will tag?

IMO it will be Davis (if Medhurst comes in), if not then Pendlebury.
Davis will probably cop the number 1 tag most times from now on. he is undoubtably our best player. He'd be hard to tag tho, explosive speed, strong at the ball and has this knack even whilst being tackled to do something with the ball. He is a little like Daicos in that he never quite has the ball until he really needs it, but just plays it out in front.

Definitely like that side.:thumbsu:
On who will Kirk tag.
I think if he is on Leon then Did's should shine and vice verca.
I don't think they'll be able to tag both effectively.
Then you have Swanny really being "ineffective" to contend with as well.
