Normally I'd only have 1-2 in the $200-400K range, this year I'm extending on a strategy which worked very well for me last year and expect to take at least 6 players in that price range into the season.

The inital squad is the hardest then the fine tuning begins. Glad we still have 46 days....The two Kraks and Petrie at low $200k have to be locks in my opinion.

Usually start with the best player in each position, then pick two more players I think will be at least top 7 in that position at the end of the year (usually the next expensive player), and my last premium on each line is a cheaper guy (but still premium price) I think could step up into that top 7 list. Then just fill the rest of my team with cheap discounted players and rookies. Midpricers (300k-400k) are a no go for me.

Thoughts on this structure?

I think I'd need to see the team before commenting, because for all I know you might have a crap-load of DPP links which could be used to totally change the structure.

I prefer to have players like Swan, Montagna, J Selwood, etc, from the start so that I don't have to worry about trading them in later; hence, I wouldn't opt for such a structure myself.

hey guys,

I'm curious as to how we're structuring our teams this year with premiums and rookies. I think it'll be similar to last year with midfield rookies looking likely to play from game 1.

My structure looks like

B: 5 premiums & 2 rookies (3 sub rookies)
M: 3 premiums & 3 rookies (again 3 sub rookies)
R: 1 premium & 1 rookie (if you count Petrie has a rookie)
F: 5 premiums, Tippet & 1 rookie (again 3 sub rookies)

Only 3 players in the 200-400 range is a bit of a surprise but still happy enough, might end up putting petrie back on the ruck bench and trading k.tippett for knights.
