Hurley on Dawes or Anthony will be really good to see.
I too am looking forward to it

Also Zaharakis there was some hype on him on the pies board around draft time, and a little disappointment we didnt draft him

I see the Wobbles have spared Josh Fraser the embarrassment of getting a flogging in the preseason.

Pitty I'm keen to pick Josh up in SC and would like to see how he is going against a big inform ruckman.

Its a shame, Tom Bellchambers could do with some competition.

I fear Wood and Bryan will be hopelessly out matched.

However might be the only part of the ground we get a win.

I know there has been a lot said about Hille over the last twelve months but watching him live over the last couple of NAB cup games, if he builds on that form and baring injuries he is a mortal lock for AA this year.

It's scary how good he looks considering his preseason hasn't been all that good.

with fraser out d.hille should be rested - there is no need to risk him with round 1 approaching. i think most would agree he is probably our most valuable player so why play him 2 weeks in a row in the nab cup?

if we happen to win all the guys will want to play in the nab cup grand final which would mean 3 weeks in a row for guys like hille.

i would be perfectly happy for hille to sit out this week and play next week with 16 days to round 1.

Hille missed a chunk of pre season training due to his hammie then stingray barb.

He NEEDS these pre season games to get his fitness up.

It doesn't matter what they want, Knights has said all along his focus in getting everyone ready for round 1 and the NAB cup won't change player loading. Hille is pretty important and as dave_27 he had an interrupted preseason so he needs game time in the NAB cup to get some fitness and form.

Even if we win (and I'd suggest Knights knows how big Fletcher and even Lovett given his vastly improved efforts thus far are) he isn't going to change his mind about player work loads and and rest time just bescause the boys want to win the NAB cup. He will stick to his guns like he always does, rest players that need it, play players that need it, and prepare the team for the season proper as he said this was what the plan was.

all the more reason to rest him - he's played 2 NAB cup games already so given his missed sessions lets not overload him. given him the week off and play him next week makes more sense to me.

You expect Belly to ruck 80% of the game? He isn't ready for that.

Hopefully Hurley gets a game.

He isn't getting overloaded. He is an AFL player, he expects to play weekin weekout, plus you just can't say because Josh is out Hille should be rested. They still have Bryan and Wood in.

Three late changes to Essendon squad

Key midfielder Jobe Watson and rising stars Jay Neagle and Scott Gumbleton have been withdrawn from the Essendon squad for tomorrow's NAB Cup Semi-Final against Collingwood.

Football operations manager, Paul Hamilton, said the three were feeling some tightness and the club didn't want to take any risks.

"It is disappointing these three players won't be lining up but we are being very cautious with them ahead of the season," he said.

They have been replaced by Rhys Magin, John Williams and Michael Quinn.

Don't know if this has been mentioned somewhere else on the boards, buut Neagle, Gumbleton and Watson have been pulled out of the side this Friday. All were feeling a bit tight, so doesn't sound like anything to be concerned about, just being left out as a precaution. They will be replaced by Rhys Magin, John Williams, and Michael 'Mighty' Quinn

Frick, beaten to it by minute!!!! :P
Thanks RIG :P

To slow :p

Will probably advantage us seeing as our foward line just became alot more open. Hopefully knights has realised that 4 tall fowards on the ground at once is a disaster.

The forward line may actually function this week!

Disappointed Neagle specifically is being rested, I was really hoping to see him bust some heads and rip a few goals tomorrow.
