Preview Team vs Blues

TD - there is not a hope in hell that the Pies won't turn up for this game. We are a lot more consistent this year - Bears game may be the only game where we haven't turned up
Add the Melbourne games (both of them) to the "not turned up" list for this year.:o

Very good change.

However, Meds should at least have been selected as an emergency. He is a cut above VFL level and is quite easily in our best 22.

I don't think he should replace Le Caff but he should replace young Blair with finals around the corner. Nothing against Blair as he hasn't really done anything wrong but Medhurst on song in a finals series is just pure impact.

Pretty straightforward team, dont be too tough on Josh, very deserving of 200 games. Its pretty clear he wont feature in the major Sept action, almost certainly wont be with us next year. GC17 odd on for mine. His OK form is all he needs to show to chalk up game 200. Wood's form and future is more important and frankly of more concern....

In fairness to him, let him go out with dignity and a pretty good servant of the club.

Logical change - Lockyer is the most replaceable forward and Cloke was always going to come straight back in. Despite the sucess of late with 1 key forward, Dawes and Cloke will play better when they are both in the side.

Not sure on Medders wanting to go back to WA but it would not surprise me if he is being kept out due to his defensive pressure and Macaffers form.

Think a midfield rest rotation policy needs to come into play in the last month of H&A. Rest for Pendles, Swan, Didak and Jolly wouldn't hurt coming in to the finals.

I think we need to cool the jets about Medders.

He's playing midfield in the VFL, I think, to get some good fitness up, that will allow him to apply forward pressure for longer when he comes back into the ones.

I tip he'll be back in for the Essendon game. Heater next week. Dick, hopefully for the Essendon game too. That's best 22.

Outside of Blair (yes, done nothing wrong), I'm not to sure who else to omit though.

Personally i wouldnt rest anyone who is 100% fit...but it would be a good idea to rest anyone with minor niggles. I think the problem might be that the players wont own up to any small injuries....in case they lose their spot permanently.

I bought a ticket for this one ...and the Pies dont do too well when i come over to watch a game..so be prepared for a disaster

Oh please play your best 22, that includes cloke. Win the flag then who gives a ****

Don't play cloke because he's putting off contract talks, excellent, Buckley didn't sign until after the final round year before port came and he didn't jump, should we have dumped him too?

Perspective use it

It would also be a good way to see how we would go without Cloke if he decides not to sign.

We have done well in the past 2 weeks.

Yeah fantastic I want the 2010 flag mire though, and if the match committee say cloke is best 22 (he is and they do) then he plays. Hardly rocket science

Yeah, let's not play Cloke, our only CHF, against a side that is inside the 8 and has beaten the other 2 best teams in the comp (StKilda and Geelong).

Let's not play Cloke, let's play the human goalpost (otherwise known as Josh Fraser).

Yep, let's drop Cloke because while he is negotiating a deal with the club, he has actually done the sensible thing and put off all discussion until the end of the season to concentrate on what we want him to do, PLAY FOOTY.

Yep, Let's drop Cloke, OH WAIT, **** NO, LET'S PLAY THE SELECTED TEAM. (Unless something untoward happens between now and 2pm Saturday).:o

I see your point but I don't agree that you always play your best 22. Especially when we've already certified a top 4 spot.

Perhaps, however i'd prefer to have a defined set of 22-25 players that have gelled together coming into finals without having key players out every other week

Risk of injury/fatigue, possibly

They wont lose any form though

Yeah I wouldn't play Cloke. First of all he let the team down by getting suspended and now he wont take a pay cut. I don't think he'll be there next year. If it comes down to money then I say piss off Travis.
Funniest thing I have read on here in ages

Terrific stuff keep it up

Shaw - Glad he's not back this week. If there is even 1% chance of re-injuring his back and perhaps worsening the injury, then he must be rested to ensure he plays finals.

Lockyer - In the same box as O'bree now, depth player who we know can come in and make a contribution, but no longer in best 22.

Fraser - Playing a team with one genuine ruckman comes with it's dangers. Had to be either him or Wood in the emergencies this week, and I think we're trying to make Wood earn it.

Cloke - He said in an interview a month ago that he wants to stay at the Pies. His dad is his manager, and I can't blame a guy for trying to get the best deal for his son. I hate to say it, but we didn't show a massive amount of loyalty for his older brothers, so maybe we shouldn't expect him to bend over backwards for the club either.

Medhurst - I believe he has major issues with regaining form after injury. Had a huge year in 2008, hurt his ankle early 2009 and never played well after, leading to his being dropped for finals. Played really well this year until injuring his foot and when he returned he was crap once again. Maybe the club has noticed this too, and is just trying to play him into consistent form so we have an in-form Medhurst for finals.
If he keeps up his current form, i'd expect him to be back in the side by about Rd 20. Lockyer should never be picked before Medhurst again.
